Staurakios – byzanský cisár


Cisárom bol dva mesiace v roku 811


Staurakios sa narodil okolo roku 790. Jeho otec bol byzanský cisár Nikeforos I. Ešte v roku 803 ho Nikeforos vyhlásil za spolucisára.

V roku 811 sa spolu s otcom zúčastnil ťaženia proti Bulharom. V nočnej bitke pri meste Pliska 26. júla, v ktorej padol jeho otec, bol mečom zasiahnutý do krku a následne ochrnul. Krátko na to ho v Adrianopole korunovali za cisára. No 2. októbra 811 abdikoval v prospech svojho švagra Michala I.


Podľa jeho manželky Theofano, chcel Staurakios údajne zmeniť Byzanciu na republiku.


Zomrel 11. januára 812 na následky zranení
