Lyle Shaver was born 11. September 1918 in Templeton, Ontario.

The RCAF was drafted in October 1940 and at home in Canada underwent basic pilot training, which he completed in August 1941. The following month he was sent to Britain. Here he had undergone combat training and after its completion he was posted to the 41. squadron, after seven weeks, but he was sent to north Africa.

Here from 27. July 1942 he served in the 112. squadron that your Kittyhawky carried out, in particular fighter-bomber action.

His new unit was equipped with the aircraft Typhoon Mk.IB and carry out mostly attacks against ground targets. And during one such mission received the Shaver his last victory.

Early in the morning 14. February 1945 took off him, led by four Typhoonů to armed reconnaissance in the vicinity of the city Coesfeldu in Germany. Here the first damaged passenger train, other suitable ground targets but didn't find. Instead of them directly in front of the nose out from the clouds a pair of jet 262. Their victims were Lt. Hans-Georg Richter and Fw. Werner Witzmann from 5./KG(J) 51. Both lost their lives. Shaver and Fraser became the only pilots Typhoonů, who separately shot down the Me 262*.

Unfortunately, even the Shaver didn't live to see the end of the war. Day 2. march 1945 took off on an armed reconnaissance. In the vicinity of Buldernu in Germany was but his Typhoon MN144/5V-H hit the spot and Shaver in its ruins died. It was his 66 combat years other hikes.
