GBR - AMES Type 86 Firelight

AMES Type 86 Firelight (Air Ministry Experimental Station Type 86) - PLRK Bloodhound Mk.II and Thunderbird II (referred to as AD10 in this system) mobile guidance radar. A Ferranti product, operating in the 10 GHz band. Developed under the name Blue Anchor, but also Indigo Corkscrew. In addition to Britain, also used in Sweden, Switzerland (along with the PLRK Bloodhound Mk.II) and Australia.

Purpose: the radar is designed to irradiate targets for guiding anti-aircraft missiles with semi-active RL guidance. The target is irradiated via a large parabolic antenna. The smaller parabolic antenna serves as a receiving antenna for energy reflected from the target. Between the two antennas is the third antenna of the electromagnetic interference protection system. The rectangular antenna next to the main antenna is the reference antenna for tracking the missile.

Its parabolic antenna has a diameter of 2.1 m.
