R.511

Anti-aircraft missile short-range semi-active radar homing system developed and manufactured by Matra. Development took place in the first half of the fifties, the first shooting took place in 1956. In 1959, ordered the French air force 900 shots. Their delivery to the operating departments take place in between the years 1961 to 1965. Elimination R.511 of the equipment of the French air force took place in 1973. Shot powered two-stage rocket motor Hotchkiss Brandt on the TPH. The weakness of the design was that the rocket during cornering had to tilt around the longitudinal axis as well as the aircraft. For use R.511 have been adapted to the aircraft Mirage IIIC, Vautour IIN and Aquilon.
