In 1929, the production of the second series of combat aircraft began A-3, in the A-3B version. It no longer had the observational O-1C as a basis, but its newer counterpart O-1E. The difference included a more powerful V-1150 version 5 engine, a modified engine body, better balanced ailerons, poneumatic chassis shock absorbers, a new tank with a volume of 136 liters and more. 78 machines were built in two batches. Deliveries began in the spring of 1930. During the service (the 8th, 13th and 19th Squadrons of the 3rd Battle Group in Fort Crockett, Texas and the 26th Battle Squadron in Hawaii.
