The highlight of the development of the AMR (Automitrailleuse de Reconnaissance) armored vehicle category was the 1939 model by M.Gendron, the designer of the M.Gendron armored vehicle. The machine was a gradual development of model 1934 and model 1935, to which the French military commission had reservations. The reservations about the Model 1935 led to the Model 1935 in cooperation with the S.O.M.U.A. consortium. (Société d′Outillage Mécanique et d′Usinage d′Artillerie) to rework the design, and a new prototype with the registration mark 60 293 was ready for demonstration in late 1937. The demonstration of the vehicle, which still lacked the planned APX 5 turret with a 25 mm anti-tank gun, took place in 12/1937 at Vincennes. The 1939 model differed not only in exterior, but also in improved mechanical assemblies. Engine power was increased, fuel consumption and range of the car were improved. The machine underwent long-term tests at Vincennes between 17.12.1937 - 15.8.1938, when the prototype covered 2836 km. A report dated 1.9.1938 stated that the machine was of sufficient quality and interest and recommended that a limited production run be made. It was planned to produce 150 machines to be produced between 8-12/1940 in 30 deliveries per month. However, by the planned period France was already occupied by German troops and no series production was started.
