The AIM-9C anti-aircraft radar-guided missiles were not very widespread and successful. A total of around 1,000 were produced between 1965-1967 and were only used on Vought F8U Crusader aircraft. Unused missiles were later converted to the anti-radar missile AGM-122A Sidearm.

The AIM-9 missiles are shown in a trio of images - AIM-9B, AIM-9D from top, and AIM-9C (original designation AAM-N-7 Sidewinder IB) from bottom. This is an official U.S. Navy, China Lake 1965.
