Při protiterosristickém cvičení v přístavu Sydney byl námořník potapěč Paul Degelder napaden žralokem. Žraloka sice údery odehnal, ale sám obdržel vážná zranění. Žralok mu roztrhl nohu a poranil i jeho pravou ruku. Námořnictvo nepotvrdilo, že by o ní přišel, jak se objevilo v některých zdrojích.
