26. October 1925 was ordered 25 established , THE PW-9 under the designation PW-9A, the factory designation of Model 15A. The main difference represented the engine of the Curtiss D-12C (later renamed the V-1150-1), also had modified the wiring of the fuel, oil and cooling. From the outside they were from the previous version basically indistinguishable.The first machines were handed over 19. June 1926, the last 4. February of the following year.
The penultimate of the ordered machines, 26-374, was completed in the form of AT-3 (Boeing Model 68), an experimental advanced trainer aircraft with the engine of the Wright-Hispano Model E. The last PW-9A was then completed as the PW-9B (26-375) with the engine of the Curtiss D-12D (V-1150-3) engine. AT-3 was a failure, however, it was ordered 15 of the PW-9B. Even those were eventually built - the army has adjusted the specification and location PW-9B were built just slightly different to the PW-9C. PW-9B was adjusted to the standard PW-9A and handed over to the army in February 1927..
