Around 1936, the 507th RCC (507th Tank Regiment) "Charles de Gaulle" modified one tank Renault D1 serial number "1016" for command and radio liaison tank. The original tower was dismantled from the tank and instead a square octagonal superstructure was mounted on the right side. The machine was equipped with a radio set type G (ER 51 and R 15bis).
