He was born 5.2.1921 in Georgswalde Czechoslovakia, trained as a merchant, 1939 joined the SS. In the Deutschland Regiment he was baptized by fire in Russia 08/1941 Iron Cross II class. As an Uscha. he took command of a squad. 1942 he passed the officer's course - then Ustuf. transferred to the cavalry, where he took command of a platoon in the 3rd /SS-Reiter-Rgt. 1. He often took part in reconnaissance and assault actions - which earned him the Iron Cross 1st Class after being wounded on 10/1942, he was wounded again in the summer of 1943. Wearer of a tank destruction badge. Later he took command of a platoon in 4./SS-Reiter-Rgt. 15, from 1944 in the 8th SS-Kav.Div. Florian Geyer on the Hungarian front in defensive battles. In the Budapest Cauldron at the rank of Ostuf. and as squadron commander, he saw much man-to-man fighting in the houses and streets of the city - which was recognized by being awarded the Knight's Cross on 9 February 1945. He was severely wounded during an attempt to break out of an encirclement on 11.2.1945 and abandoned by his own unit at his own request, he has been considered missing since.
