Identification of the KV-3 (КВ-3) tank is difficult. Resources vary. But apparently the KV-3 tank is one of the following prototypes - "Object 222" (Object 222) [* 1 *], or "Object 223" (Object 223) [* 2 *]. "Object 222" is a heavy tank weighing 51 tons armed with a 76.2 mm cannon. "Object 223" is a heavy tank weighing up to 75 tons, equipped with a 107 mm cannon F-42 (Ф-42), or ZIS-6 (ЗИС-6). Both tanks ended up as prototypes, which were not accepted into series production, but were used in combat [* 2 *]. The Russian source [* 2 *] refers to the archival numbers of the documents.

Originally, this designation was to bear a slightly modified KV-1 with a 76mm F-32 cannon (the tank originally bore the designation T-150). It was to have an enlarged thick frontal armor to 90 mm, plus modifications to the tower (command turret). That was before the invasion of the USSR. After receiving information that French loot tanks were included in the Panzerwaffe Char B-1 with armor thicker than German tanks. New regulations have been issued on the development of new types of tanks. The tank was to have, in addition to considerably thick armor and 107 mm cannon (ZIS-6).
Several variants were then proposed for the KV-3 project. First, this tank was to have a F-42 cannon caliber 107 mm, then the aforementioned ZIS-6. The chassis was to be based on the classic design KV-1, but was to be extended by one wheel. One of the original forms is the attached photo of the model above. At the time of the invasion of the USSR, only the chassis was completed and it lacked a tower. At that time, however, the production of standard tanks had priority and the development of new types was partially subdued. KV-3 was also referred to as KV-220-2. Earlier information claimed that the prototype along with the prototypes T-150 and KV-220 (KV-220-1 ) were sent to Chelyabinsk, but there are no documents available to confirm this. On the contrary, there are documents that all the mentioned prototypes received standard towers from KV-1 (except T-150 - it had its own tower, which differed from the standard at least). Individual prototypes were assigned to units defending Leningrad. KV-3 (KV-220-2) was assigned to the 124th Tank Brigade. As part of it, he took part in several combat operations and was later destroyed.

And here is a comparison of the KV-3 tank with a projected turret with a 107 mm cannon with a combat-deployed KV-3 tank with a turret from the tank KV-1.
