In 1917 a simplified and lightened version 10-cm-Kanone 17 was designed and produced under the name 10-cm-Kanone 17/04.
This weapon differed from the basic version in its greatly simplified sighting systems, reduced muzzle damping system, lack of anti-aircraft fire guidance systems, and a lightened hull to allow transport in one piece.
In August 1917, 1,000 guns of this version were ordered, the actual number delivered is unknown.
