AM-38F
АМ-38Ф

The AM-38F engine is designed by A.A. Mikulina ( А.А.Микулин), which was created by increasing the power of the original M-38 engine. Hence the designation F after the engine number, which means Forsirovanyj ( Форсированный), ie with increased power. Compared to the AM-38, it had lower power at altitudes above 1500 m, but the power in the take-off mode was amplified by 74.6 kW (100 hp). At the same time, its design allowed to work in take-off mode for up to 10 minutes in the range of altitudes from 0 to 1500 meters. This mode was called combat mode.

It was designed for a two-seater version of the "stormtrooper" Il-2, which was given the designation Il-2 AM-38F.
