General Jasuhiko Kuroe

He was born in February 1918 in a military family and therefore no one was surprised that he decided to be a soldier. He volunteered into the Army air officers ' school, graduating in 1937. Followed by fighter training and classification to his first unit, 59. Sentai, which was at that time in China at the airport Hankow. The unit was equipped with the standard fighter of the Japanese army air force Nakajima Ki-27. As an inexperienced pilot, however, did not intervene in the hostilities, but further honed in the pilot's art. After the outbreak of hostilities on the Mongolian border was to the center of the new fighting sent and 59. Sentai and Kuroe for the first time intervened in the fighting. The first victory but had to wait until 15. September 1939, i.e. to the penultimate day of the fighting. On that day, the pilots of the unit had competed with about 50 soviet fighters and in the loss of six of their own pilots claimed 11 kills. Kuroe shot down two biplanes Polikarpov I-15. The following day the fighting ended and 59. Sentai she returned to Hankow.

In China I Kuroe other achievements gained, and in 1941 back to Japan. Here is becoming an instructor in the Army air officers ' school and in march was promoted to captain.
In 1938 it began, on the order of the army air force, the company Nakajima with the development of the actual fighter plane, which was no emphasis on agility and maneuverability but on the strong armament and high performance. The prototype of the new aircraft, which received the designation Ki-44 Shóki (demon), first flew in August 1940 and followed him to the other two prototypes and seven production units. After challenging the military trials were in September 1941, created a separate 47. Čútai, which had a type of test in combat conditions. Kuroe she became the commander of the 3. Hentai. The pilots started with the intensive training and when 7. December 1941 war broke out they were ready.
Two days after the start of the fighting unit left Japan and moved to Saigon and twenty-fourth moved into the Don's Manga in the south of Thailand. From here its pilots involved in the attack on Singapore.
15. January 1942 Kuroe opens the scoring units and the new fighter jets. A pair of Ki-44 over the airport Tengah utkla with the fighters Buffalo and Kuroe one of them five doses of the shot.

26. January pilots 47. Čútai participated in the protection of the japanese landing at Endau on the east coast of the Malay peninsula. The attacking aircraft of the RAF have suffered during the day of the huge loss and the landing of them failed to stop. Kuroe first followed the course of the fighting pilots of the Ki-27 from 1. and 11. Sentai with enemy aircraft below them and when to it after a while joined the second Ki-44 his unit, he participated also on the massacre of the british bombers. In that time, over the battlefield, came the second shock wave, which consisted of obsolete aircraft Vickers Vildebeest 36. and 100. squadron the RAF. From 21 deployed aircraft of these squadrons with ten of them returned and the rest suffered various damage. And just one win over this aircraft, he scored and Kuroe. The Pilot of the second Ki-44 shot down another biplane and also accompanying Hurricane from 232. squadron. The RAF came in this fight a total of 72 men.

47. Čútai will then further participated in the attack on Singapore, but had problems with bojeschopností their aircraft. In march 1942 moved to southern Burma to the airport Pegu and further participated in the protection of ground troops.
In April 1942, a week after the attack of u.s. bombers B-25 to Japan, she was 47. Čútai downloaded on maternity islands and up to the end of the war participated in the defense of Tokyo. Kuroe for units received at least three kills, to Japan with her, however, neodcestoval, because he was sent to the 64. Sentai, which also fought over Burma, and was armed with the fighters Nakajima Ki-43. Already 8. April she became the commander of the 3. Čútai.

In the summer the unit was retired in Japan, because during the summer months were combat operations due to monzunům limited, and in the fall returned to Burma.

The first victory after returning from Japan received 25. October 1942. That day they attacked the japanese bombers on the airport Tenskia in the northern part of Assam. Against the attackers shot through P-40 from 51. Fighter Group. Attentive escort, which accounted for a Ki-43 from the 50. and 64. Sentai, but the attack before the Americans could retract the undercarriages of their fighters. About the fall of one of the starters Built is deserved Kuroe together with your number. For the japanese fighter but the attack didn't go the best, because they lost three Ki-43 even with the pilots and six more were damaged, mostly fire anti-aircraft guns during the attack on the airport.
Escorts of bombers then became the daily bread of fighters 64. Sentai. Their opponents were the american P-40 and squadron of the RAF armed with Hurricanes Mk.II and Curtissy Mohawk. At the same time, had the emergency starts, mostly against the bodies of the british Blenheimů, at that time, but began to emerge even more dangerous enemy - čtyřmotorové the Liberators RAF, which soon supplemented the same aircraft of the USAAF.

Kuroe with them for the first time met in the night from 25. 26. November 1942. Four Ki-43 took off against three čtyřmotorovým bombers, which have been reported over the Mingaladonem. Kuroe attacked together with Y. Yasudou on the aircraft, which got into the cone of the headlamp. But the gunners in the bomber had a good shot and Yasudova Ki-43 has changed into a fireball. Kuroe but continued to attack and after landing reported the shoot B-17 in cooperation with the Yasudou, which is saved on a parachute and suffered burns in the face. Japanese intelligence later confirmed the crash of the bomber and the victory of them has been recognized.
In fact, but it was a the Liberators from 159. squadron RAF, all returned to their base with varying degrees of damage.

During the attack on the Chittagong 10. December reported Kuroe shoot hurricane each and his victims are likely to become F/Sgt F.W. Davis from the 136. squadron, which his damaged aircraft BH142 sat down to crash on the beach.

After she was 64. Sentai again withdrawn to Japan to rest and rearm for a new Ki-43-II. To Burma back in February 1943.

The thirteenth then led to Kuroe a dozen fighters, which provided escort to the bombers Ki-48 the attack on Donbaik, north of Akyabu. Over the target there was a fight with the Hurricanes from 261. squadron and Kuroe reported four wins. A week later he shot down another Hurricane, this time from the 135. squadron.
During the escort Ki-21 over Dibrugark 25. February 1943, the Japanese again fought with the P-40 from the 51.FG. The pilots 64. Sentai reported five wins, but lost its new commander, Maj. Akera. Also five bombers returned to their base. The americans after the battle they announced the 12-19-5 wins and suffered no losses.

In march 1943, Kuroe becomes Hikótaichó, then the commander of the flight personnel, which is subordinated directly to the commander of the Sentai. Another victory gaining 2. march, when he shot down a Hurricane probably from 607. squadron and the fourteenth extended his score Hurricane 135. wing.

Another Hawkerova fighter ended up on the Kuroově account three days later. 64. Sentai participated in the escort bombers on Cox´s Bazaar. Over the target there was a struggle with Hurricanes from 79. squadron. The japanese reported three victory, the RAF had one Hurricane destroyed and two damaged.

At that time strengthened the status of the japanese air force in Burma, several aircraft P-40E, which were ukořistěny in the Philippines. The aircraft had 50. Sentai and used it mainly to the bedside of the prosecution. Whether these managed to destroy some enemy aircraft is not known, at least in three cases, however, their pilots were attacked on their own Ki-21 (in one case, they provide escort 64. Sentai) and one even shot down.

The last day of march to Kuroe again fought with the Liberators, which this time came from 7. BG the USAAF. Kuroemu managed one B-24 intervene, but then he took a few hits from american shooters and had to disappear. The damaged bomber after off his number, and this victory they have confirmed the other pilots of the unit. On the ninth of April, shooting down another Hurricane, probably the aircraft HV976 F/O W. Christiansen, RNZAF from 67. squadron, whose body was never found.

21. may 1943 carried out 50. and 64. Sentai a common attack on the Cox´s Bazaar. Kuroeho men encountered along the way to the four Hurricanes that accompanied the reconnaissance Blenheim. During the time the Japanese claimed three fighters shot down and even the poor Blenheim they did not escape. 79. squadron really came about three aircraft and two pilots, Blenheim 11. squadron to your airport also came back. On the way home, then the Japanese ran into formation B-25 and one Mitchell, thanks to them, also home made it.

Interesting victory Kuroe scored 13. September 1943, when after a half-hour car chase shot down in the vicinity of Rangoon reconnaissance F-5 from 9. wing. His pilot 1/Lt Frank H. Tilcock fell into captivity. It was the first aircraft type F-5 shot down by japanese pilots.

Another explorer, he fell victim to 2. November, when over Rangúnem shot down Mosquito Mk.II DZ697 "J" from the newly established 684. squadron the RAF. And again, it was the very first Mosquito shot down by a japanese fighter.

The allies at that time started in the field a lot to strengthen and opponents of the japanese fighters are still more likely to become modern aircraft as they were Spirfiry, Beaufightery and Mosquito on the side of the RAF and the first P-38, P-51 and new version P-40 on the side of the Americans. The japanese got one backup in a few serial Ki-44, which were mainly designed for combat with heavy bombers and short-circuit in the field appeared a few Ki-61 and twin-engined Ki-45. Standard dart were, however, up to the end of the fighting best Ki-43.

27. November they attacked the Americans bombers B-24 and the B-25 on industrial targets in Inseinu in Rangoon. The protection they provide P-38 and fifteen P-51A from the 530. wing of 311. Fighter-Bomber Group. Kuroe led into battle 3. Chuntai 64. Sentai. The japanese first attacked the escort and managed to shoot down two P-38's, on the destruction of one participated and Kuroe. Then get to the bombers, here is into them but let the Mustangs and the japanese formation disintegrated. Kuroe got into dog fights with the lone P-51 and took advantage of the greater dexterity of his machine. After a few precise doses ended up a Mustang on the abdomen in some swamp. The pilots 64.Sentai after the fight claimed a total of two B-24, two P-38's and four Mustangs, two lost planes. Other B-24 shot down pilot of the Ki-45Kai from 21. Sentai. The americans actually lost three bombers, two Lightningy and four Mustangs.

With the same opponents to 64. Sentai engaged the next day and, despite a number of claims on both sides wasn't in the air battle shot down any aircraft.

To the next big combat with american aircraft occurred 1. December 1943. The area of Rangoon has become the order of the usual formation consisting of a B-24, B-25, the P-38 and P-51A. Against them once again lined up the pilots from 64., 21. and 204. Sentai. Kuroemu managed to break through the escort fighters and attacked one B-24. He managed to stop one of the four engines, then, was his aircraft down and opened his chassis. Kuroe then had to vacate the battlefield. On this aircraft then attacked the other two japanese fighters, but although it may have used up all the ammo, the bomber continued to fly, gradually, however, he was losing height. Kuroe, however, still followed and finally on to him, with his injured Ki-43 once again attacked. His dose was the final nail in the coffin, and the bomber after it crashed into the jungle. In total, the pilots of his unit claimed seven B-24, the two P-51 and one P-38.

On 10. December Kuroe over Rangúnem face another Mosquitem Mk.II THE RAF. As soon as the British saw it, added gas and tried to escape. Almost 40 minutes Kuroe tried to aeroplane approach. Finally he succeeded and shot him, left the engine. Then his guns jammed and it seemed to him the Mosquito will disappear. Kuroe, however, dragged up to the cabin of a british aircraft and showed the pilot to land. The Pilot of an airplane DZ696 "WITH" F/E. Cotton from 684. wing zakýváním confirmed that he understood and turned the aircraft to the ground. While attempting an emergency landing, however, caught a wing on a tree and when the subsequent crash came with the navigator of life.

About eight days later Kuroe participated in the escort bombers whose target was Kunming in China. Here there was a fight with the P-38 and P-40 and Kuroe he scored a probable victory over one Lightningem, his aircraft was also severely damaged.

One of his recent events in Burma was 31. December 1943 escorting bombers to Akyabu. Here is the Japanese competed with about thirty Spitfire and suffered heavy losses. Of the six bombers was the five lost, as well as one fighter.

Day 8. January 1944 is Kuroe transferred to the Army air test centre and forever leaving Burma and 64. Sentai. In Japan, after involved in the development and testing of new aircraft and weaponry, but also the testing of captured aircraft.

When they began raids of bombers B-29 on Japan, Kuroe against them, took flight on the aircraft, which were tested at the centre. 25. march 1945, so he shot down the fighter jet Kawasaki Ki-102 two Superfortressy and another B-29 took off in the night 23. may, when piloted Nakadžimu Ki-84.
His achievements were valued 15. June 1945, when his name was cited in orders before nastoupenou unit of three thousand men, and as a gift got a bottle of sake.

Kuroe is so got to see the end of the war and despite the fact that he was three times shot down, and three times wounded. He himself claims that during the war he shot down 51 aircraft, today and he is credited with 30 kills, some of the common. Even though became the most successful fighter on the burma front and in the table of the army ec belongs to him the third place.

After the war, Kuroe involved in the building of the japanese self-defence forces and became a commander of a unit of jet fighters in the rank of general.
Died 5. December 1965, when he drowned while fishing at sea.
