Panzerjäger-Abteilung 125 was for 125. infantry division assembled in October 1940 in the Military Training Area Münsingen from the headquarters and 2. Company Tank Fighter Detachment 5 5th Infantry Division and 2nd Company Tank Fighter Detachment 260 260th Infantry Division.
In late January 1944, the detachment suffered heavy casualties at Nikopol during the Soviet Dnieper-Carpathian Operation and was disbanded along with its parent division in March of that year, except for the 2nd Company, which was renamed the 1st Company of the 271st Tank Fighter Detachment of the 271st Infantry Division.
