152 mm cannon howitzer vz.37 formed the armament of the army artillery and was intended for:
- to combat enemy artillery, - to silence distant targets, - for demolition of fortresses and massive log cabins, - to combat tanks and armored trains, - to destroy balloons.
The howitzer was transported behind a towing vehicle (special tracked tractor D-350 MAZUR or truck T 111, T 138). Ammunition and a set of backup and equipment parts, tools and accessories were transported on towing vehicles, some accessories are attached to the carriage arms.
The cannon howitzer consists of: - barrel, - carriage, - wheels (common for 152 mm KH vz.37 and for 122 mm K vz.31/37), - main wagon (common for 152 mm KH vz.37 and for 122 mm K vz.31/37),
. Lafeta consists of: - cradle, with braking device, - upper carriage, - measuring and measuring controls, - balancing mechanism with protective shields, - lower carriage with two carriage arms with chassis, - carriage shield, - sights (2 types: sight with independent aiming and sight with semi - independent aiming), cannon binoculars.
The wheel is intended for cannon transport. In the marching position, the wheels with the carriage form a four-wheeled vehicle and are connected to the towing vehicle. The construction of the wheel and cannon allows the cannon to be transported at speeds of up to 25 km/h. The wheel wheels had so-called "full" tires - rims with sponge rubber.
The main carriage is intended to be removed mainly from the carriage when repairing the cannon. One main car belonged to 12 parts.
Ammunition Divided ammunition was used - ammunition that is charged twice (complete wound).
Such ammunition consists of: a) from a projectile with a bursting charge and a lighter, b) from a cartridge with a sharp powder charge, a match screw and auxiliary elements (i.e. a sharp cartridge). During the shooting was allowed to use ammunition of Czechoslovak and Soviet production.
Main technical data: Caliber: 152.4 mm Number of grooves: 48 Thread pitch (length): 25 calibers Initial velocity of the projectile: 655 m/s. Firing rate: 3 to 4 rounds/min. Range: 17230 m Max. elevation: + 65 ° Max. depression: - 2 ° Measuring range: 58 ° Firing height: 1515 mm Time required to change from the marching position of the cannon to the combat (or vice versa): 8-10 minutes.
Dimensions in mm: Barrel length: without muzzle brake 4405/with muzzle brake 4925 Cannon length: in marching position 8175/in combat position 8000 Width: in marching position 2345 Height: in marching position 2270 Brightness: 315 Wheel: double with rims filled with sponge rubber Size: 1250x155 Wheelbase: 1900 Wheel width (double): 310 Cannons of older production (for 1956) could have other wheels: a) cast wheel with a full rim with a resiliently mounted hub, b) cast steel wheel without rubber rim.
Weight in kg: In combat position: 7270 In the marching position: 8070 Barrel with breech: 2400 Conclusion: 61 Wheels: 780

152 mm howitzer vz. 37 in VHM Piešt'any, own photo 16.6.2007. Compared to the other photos in this topic, I was interested in the wheels of the main axle with tyres, which are quite significantly different from the others....

The difference is not only in the tyres. The newer one had pneumatic drum brakes, including air line and connecting hose.

the answer is easy it is Le.F.H. 18/40, i.e. 10,5 cm Leichte Feldhaubitze 18/40, it had a chassis from PAK 40, unlike other Le.F.H. 18 howitzers. Here are probably used non-standard wheels (probably from Soviet howitzer 122 mm fig.1938).It may be a post-war modification, but also from the war, the small wheels of the PAK limited the firing.

ML 20 of 1937 model. Memorial Vrútky 49°07'28.11 "N 18°54'24.70 "E, version with old spoked wheels but with pneumatic drum brakes and hose line with connecting hoses (apparently a combination of old and new version).
To the works from Vrútok still (described directly from the information boards by the howitzer): On 18 April 1945, battalions of the 1st and 3rd Czechoslovak Independent Brigade made a major assault on the Grun and Polom kopjes. The enemy was sending reinforcements. The attack alternated with a counterattack. Our infantrymen fought for every meter of ground. Combat outpost 824, covering the approaches to Polom and Grun, changed hands several times during the day. The 3rd Brigade broke through to the eastern slope of Polom, but was knocked back the next day. A company of the 4th Battalion, led by Lieut. Arnošt Marcink reached the eastern wooded part of Polom first. Of the attacking units, the distinguished squad of Des. František Fabiánek, who led his men courageously and with success to the most dangerous places, and thus pushed the other units to advance. Repeatedly on 20 and 21 April, infantrymen of the 4th Czechoslovak Independent Brigade broke through to the top of Polom, but even they could not withstand the enemy counterattack. The temporary failure of the 4th Czechoslovak Brigade units in the Polom area was partially offset on 21 April by the success of the 3rd Battalion, which had been trying in vain for several days to break enemy resistance in the area of the quarry near the Dubná Skala railway station, at the beginning of the Váh gorge, north-west of Vrútok.
Recalls Alfréd Ressel: "The Germans nestled in the quarry, built concrete bunkers there, and dammed up the approaches to Strečno very tightly. When repeated attempts to capture Dubna Skala led to nothing but increased casualties, it was decided to destroy the resistance in the quarry by direct fire from a 152 mm cannon howitzer and a few guns of the 2nd Czechoslovak Artillery Regiment. However, it was found that there was no good shot into the quarry from the firing position on the northern edge of Vrútok. And so the clever men of the 5th Artillery Regiment solved the problem simply and brilliantly. Using a steel rope, they dragged a heavy cannon across the bottom of the swollen Váh River at night to the right bank of the river and camouflaged it well by morning. I was anxious about the cannon, which had disappeared under the surface, the raging current could have overturned it. It turned out well, however.
At 1:30 p.m. the Germans were surprised by direct cannon howitzer fire from a distance of 1,000 yards on the bunkers, quite inaccessible to infantry. The bunkers with six heavy machine guns were shot up, the crews silenced, and the infantry of the 3rd Czechoslovak Brigade captured the quarry without casualties. In particular, this forward gun performed its task superbly under extremely difficult conditions, considering that its own infantry was only 50 yards away from the enemy during the firing. On the following day, thanks to the good work of the artillery, the infantry succeeded in making a breakthrough into the enemy's defences in the area of the incipient confluence of the Váh River."
The deputy corps commander on the spot commended the gunnery sergeant, Sgt. Mikulas Vlcak Czechoslovak War Cross 1939 and the peacekeeper Sgt. Juraj Martis with the Medal for gallantry in the face of the enemy, due to the extremely difficult task of conducting fire only 50 meters from his own troops. They fired 13 shells from a cannon howitzer into the quarry area.
