SA-75 Dvina

This is anti-aircraft missile complex medium range, designed to defend the important political, military and economic centers of the state.

Its development began in 1953, the armament was officially listed in 1956, in fact, anti-aircraft missile sections massively zasazovány into the system of air defense of the USSR until 1958. It is interesting that PLRK SA-75 was basically a stop-gap solution, as originally envisaged by the use of the firing guidance radar working in the 6 cm band, equipped in addition, the system of the SPC (selection of moving targets – the system shows only targets with some speed, it allows odrušit echa passive interference, or reflections from the ground). For the constant trouble with some of the components, however, have to be through recourse to the production of simpler radar identified as a RSNA-75, who worked in the 10 cm band, and was with him left out of the function SPC (the development of radar in the 6 cm band, however, halted not, and later resulted in a variant of the system called the -75 Děsna).

PLRK SA-75 Dvina was coupled with 10 cm locator RSNA-75 equipped with PLŘS IN-750 (military designation 1D).

Composition of the complex:

Cabin PA - the receiving and the transmitting of the cabin (antenna post, high-voltage cabin). The base consists of an artillery chassis KZU-16, on which rests the rotatable container with the transmitter and high-frequency parts of the receiver station to the transmitter commands RPK (on the roof of the container of the antenna system). When transporting the antenna system picks up the help of the forklift and the antenna is overridden in special trailers.

As a rule, it is reported that the first version of the RSNA-75 had in addition two orthogonal antennas with folic transmission characteristics (to track the targets in the X and Y axes), yet a third parabolic antenna intended only to monitor his own rockets. The only photo I found with this finish, however, comes from the chinese version of the HQ-1. On the other hand, say that this version of the HQ-1 was an exact copy of the soviet Dviny delivered to China at the end of 50. years. It is likely that the USSR on the export as first released, the oldest version of the system.

Unfortunately, I found no contact to the author.

Cabin - cabin management (command post section)
Cab And - indikátorová cabin
Cabin K3 - cabin management startup
Cabin K5 - cabin, ASD-75 (computing the cabin - I do not know for more information)
Cabin K6 - cabin power and management dieselelektrických aggregates
Cabins EDS - 3 (?) dieselelektrické aggregates

Launch site - 6 launch ramps SM-63. OR is jednonásobná (one ramp carries one rocket) with electric drives. OR lies on the ground čtyřramenným lafetovým the cross, the inside of the shells is located the drives in the location and azimuth, then there is the swinging part with guiding kolejničkami for the start of the rocket in the changing angle and rozražeč gas emissions, protecting terrain when firing the rockets. When transporting OR bearing connecting dvoukolými chassis and pulled by a belt, the tractor ATS-59 (as well as the chassis KZU-16 with a cabin, PA).

For the first version allegedly did not have a gun-carriage OR the possibility of "breaking" ; in later versions with the pivot portion of – the beam on which rests PLŘS – about in this third of the length of the "break" like the barrel of the air rifle, the front part falls down a few degrees, which ensures a safe start of the rocket. This, than to accelerate to the maximum, it can at boot time somewhat fall down and catch on the end of the swinging part. Turning point so the rocket "will do instead".

the Basic TTD OR SM-63:

Delivery

Elevation
+ 10 - +65 st. (the rocket cannot be launched below the lower limit, to starting the rocket didn't crash into the terrain obstacles)
the Speed of rotation in azimuth
9,5 st./sec.
the Speed of rotation in the position
3 st./ sec.
Weight in combat position
8 400 kg
Weight in marching position (with chassis)
12000 kg
Marching speed in the field
10 km/h
Marching speed on the road
35 km/h

Feet – 12 pcs of containers PR-11A for the transport and charging of the rockets on the OR, as well as for maintenance, the storage of the rockets, heating up their on-board apparatus and their performance okysličovadlem. Přepravník consists of a semi-trailer and the towing vehicle ZIL-151V. The filling device matches should the contents of the tank 346 liters of oxidizers.

Palebný diameter amounted to 12 rackets 1D, of which 6 were maintained on the ramps and 6 on the přepravnících.

Rocket 1D (production designation of the -750) had a classic aerodynamic scheme. Was tier, which 1. the degree was formed startovým down the rocket motor PRD-10. Consisted of its own cylindrical body, in which vkládalo in laboraci 14 tubes of smokeless gunpowder a length of 180 cm, outer diameter 135 mm and internal diameter 26 mm. The total weight of the tubes was 547 kg. From the front side was našroubováno lid with holes for 2 pcs starting pyropatron PP-8 and under the lid is put in the zažehovač of a weight of 2 kg. From the other side of the našroubovala a Laval nozzle with a mechanically variable in a critical section. Specific starter pulse was 100 000 kg which guarantee a safe start of the guide rails of the OR. The period of activity was from 3, 2 to 4, 5 sec depending on the outside temperature and thus the burning rate of the dust tube. On were on the body of the PRD fastened with 4 stabilizers, of which 2 pieces should control elevons (ailerons) and those in the uncontrolled phase of the flight using the autopilot and a pneumatic
the system can prevent the rotation of the rocket around the longitudinal axis Y. The weight of the complete engine was about 1000 kg and reliably worked from a temperature of -40 to +50 degrees.

2. degree powered liquid rocket engine (KRM). Used are of two types, either a S2.711 with a pull of 2600 kg or S3-20 with a pull of 3 to 100 kg. As fuel was chosen TG-02 on the basis of hydrocarbon compounds, which is violently poisonous and oxidizer AK-20F on the basis of multiple derived nitric acid, which causes chemical burns of the human skin and it resists her only teflon, stainless steel, duralumin, glass and for a shorter time period of a rubber material. For the first type of the engine had to be the component P+Of the transported turbočerpadlem, for which the drive was used izopropylnitrát OT-155. The second engine was a little easier, had a higher move, but less stable running. The period of operation of both engines was about 60 sec. The diameter of the motor S2.711 amounted to 480 mm, a length of 1030 mm, the dry mass of 43 kg.

In the nose of the rocket was non-contact radar lighter, which ensures the timely roznět martial charges with directional effect, placed right behind him. This was before placing them cloak and she worked on the goal of continuous flow up of fragments.. For the combat bombs then found a tank of fuel and oxidant, electronic apparatus, and KRM.

Complex developed in the fighting position looked like this:

The middle position was shooting from the radar with the other cabins around them in a circle was deployed on 6 of the launch ramp. Containers were placed in hiding at a distance of typically up to 300 meters, in order if necessary, within a 2-minute re-charge the launch site after firing the previous rocket launch. OR is sesynchronizovaly with the RSNA-75, so where to "point" the radar, there is also turned the missiles. When firing were rockets vstřeleny into a beam radiopovelového the channel, which they then, during the flight, supplied commands to change course (function homing system). The system has been able to connect at the same time 3 missiles at 1 target. Such as managing the radar section assigning radar type P-10, later P-12.

Described PLRK got the NATO code designation SA-2a.

SA-75M Dvina

The first flights of american spy aircraft U-2 (held in altitudes around 25 km), carried out from mid-50. years over the territory of the USSR, however, have proved that this first system of Dvina has a lack of elevation range (22 km). Therefore, it was of 25. 8. 1956 the Council of ministers of the USSR ordered to improve existing PLŘS 1D so that was the elevation of the reach increased to at least 25 km.This has been achieved by modifying the KRM S2.711 increase in the tensile strength of 2650 kg to 3100 kg and by increasing the working pressure in the combustion chamber from 45,1 to 52 atmospheres. Thus a modified version of the rocket 1D be described as 11D (-750V).

Meanwhile, it was also found that the third antenna RSNA-75 designed to track missiles, is wholly unnecessary, because the tracking of missiles without problems provide the two orthogonal antennas designed for tracking goals. The case of the other modification was, thus, the parabolic antenna removed. Thus amended, the system received the NATO code designation SA-2b. The actual fire control radar got the designation of NATO Fan Song B, while the original Russian designation sounded RSNA-75M.

To make the situation even more turned, there are also photos of the RSNA-75, which is the configuration of the antenna post of the mirror-image reciprocal and antennas are significantly narrower than in later versions. Apparently it is one of the oldest implementation of complex, possibly on one of the prototypes, unfortunately no more details are known.

The current composition of the PLRK was the following:

PAA - the receiving and the transmitting of the cabin
U - cabin management (command post section)
AA - instrument cab
RMA - cabin power and management dieselelektrických aggregates
EDS - three dieselelektrické aggregates 5E93
OR - 6 launch ramps SM-63
Feet – 12 pcs of PR-11B, which was the tractor replaced by the newer type of ZIL-157KV, only sections dislokovaným in the sandy areas to the towing containers assigning belt ATS-59.

Rocket 11D - new rocket has also been further modified and its development has resulted in variants IN-750VK, 11DA, 11DU, 11DM and 11VMV, while the rockets 11DU and 11DM were delivered, in particular to Vietnam. The purpose of the adjustments of these missiles was mainly to reduce the minimum height of the area of the effective scope, improve the reliability of the radiolokačního lighters, to enable the postřelování objectives at the departure, to speed up the preparation of firing and change the angle of the rozletu up of fragments. martial charges.

TTD rockets 11D:

Total weight: 2283 kg
the Weight of the fight. charges: 190 kg
the Diameter of the 1. grades: 654 mm

SA-75M Dvina-And

The unrealized project, whose purpose was to shorten the coiling of the complex. For this reason, they have been the cabin RTB merged into the two car semi-trailers. In the maneuver section, however, most of the time it takes coiling of the firing and guidance radar and a launch ramp, so to save time you might as well avoid and so this proposal has not been adequate to the problems in the introduction into production.

SA-75MK

The name of the export version of the SA-75M. When the USSR released the to export the system SA-75M, it was decided that the countries of the socialist block will go PLRK with the designation of the SA-75M, while for other customers (particularly in the Middle east) will get them exported version of the label SA-75MK. These export variants have slightly differed between each other, so from the original soviet version. They have been taken into account in particular the climate zone in which the system should operate. These PLRK as the management radar assigning a new radar P-12, that has already been equipped with the SPC.

SA-75M with PA-00

PLRK SA-75M, operating since 1965 in Vietnam, were during this combat deployment exposed to intense radiolokačnímu interference by the u.s. air force. In order to secure the pursuit of the objectives and in conditions of strong active noisy interference, was at the end of 1967 for the firing of a guidance radar above the antenna azimuth cabin PAA added a sort of booth (officially marked as annex PA-00, the soviets dubbed as the "sobačaja booth", therefore, the doghouse, the Americans then an outbuilding called "the bird house", thus the bird house, with us, he was called also "vizír"), in which was placed the two operators, who target in azimuth and the location of the place on the screens of the locator watching binoculars with a large magnification. The addition of this fiber optic channel should in theory allow the howitzers targets for interference, but the condition was that these objectives had to be optically visible, which excluded the shooting in conditions of low visibility. Thus amended, the radar got a designation in the code of NATO Fan Song F (version "C", "E", have meanwhile been allocated to radars systems Děsna and Volkhov, and the letter "D" from me for unknown reasons it was deleted). It is interesting that the specialists of the NATO it is believed that this is a variant of the new system Volkhov, therefore, also the entire complex received the designation SA-2f.

PLRK shipped to Vietnam have gone through several different adjustments, which, however, are not neodrazily in the marking system. They were in particular the following:

-the possibility of the howitzers targets with a higher max. speed
-the increase in the angle of the rozletu up of fragments. the combat part of the rocket
-the ability of the howitzers objectives at the departure
-the addition of an optical channel (PA-00)
-reduce the lower limit of the area of the effective scope of the
-delivery of special missiles intended to postřelování rušičů (rocket 11DM)
-adding a special circuit allowing to simulate the firing of the rocket to scare the opponent by broadcasting changing commands to the rocket.

PLRK supplied to the Middle East have been modified mutatis mutandis, in addition to the above improvements, for example, now provide postřelování targets in the ground altitudes (H<300), the internal borders PÚP is closer to 5 km, were more resistant against interference in the channel answers the rockets and were fitted with an automatic device firing. Even in this case, those changes in no way impaired by the marking system, so that i remain the SA-75M.

epilogue

PLRK SA-75 Dvina was the first shoulder-fired missiles; missile system in the world, who downed the real enemy aircraft. It happened so 7. October 1959 in China, when the USSR supplied PLRK shot down a taiwanese spy plane (an article about this wave here. The system then passed the fire of a real war in Vietnam and the Middle east, where destroyed dozens of aircraft of the adversary. Complexes SA-75 Dvina served in a number of states of the world and served for quite a long time – e.g. in Czechoslovakia were the last sections armed with these PLRK repealed in the year 1990. It can be assumed that in some countries the "Third world" can be in service yet.

Diskuse

In the Military aviation museum, Kbely is a rocket 1D on the launch pad the SM-63.

How the rocket was painted, its value greatly demoted because in JANUARY it has never been used such color scheme.

Except for training missiles, it was always a combination of silver - white.

The color white was in two places:
- cloak of the starting of a rocket engine solid fuel in the first degree
- part of the shell of the second tier from the place of about 20 cm before the front edge of the rudder to roughly two-thirds of the wings - in those places was placed a cylinder on the compressed air and the fuel tank

Other colors that were on the rocket used was green (the antenna), some places and a warning was red and of course black (inscriptions).

More nonsense (but it is quite often seen in other museums) is that the pitot tube is extruded. She was in a position on OR inserted and vysouvala with by firing rockets.

Check the eject indication of pitot heater failure the tube was one of the acts weekly or monthly to the prescribed work (I can't remember exactly, I think that monthly, I am at the time of my active service on the Volchovech wasn't paledňák, but rtbák).

This picture but I have to commend..
