SD-100

Self-propelled gun produced in the Czechoslovak license SU-100.

Czechoslovakia acquired the license rights for the production of SU-100 works in 1951. Production for the needs of the Czechoslovak Army took place in Prague in 1953 ČKD Sokolovo, a year later she moved to Slovakia to Závodů Josifa V. Stalin v Martině. In 1956 and 1957, 365 self-propelled guns SD-100 were produced in Slovakia. Production of the SD-100 ended in 1957 after 771 copies were made.

460 machines were used in ČSLA colors, the rest went (from production) for export. Self-propelled guns SD-100 has been introduced since 1953 in the armament of tank and tank self-propelled regiments, in which it represented about one-third of the number of tank technology and replaced the temporary shortage of medium tanks T-34/85.

From the 1960s onwards, they were gradually withdrawn from ČSLA units, and the NGO tried to resell them to "friendly" countries, which in some cases was successful (eg in 1967 to Morocco). However, part of the SD-100 of the Czechoslovak People's Army remained in storage and for a long time was destined for the armament of war-based units of the tank army.
Export SD-100 in the colors of Egypt and Syria participated Suez (1956), Šestidenní (1967) a Jomkippurské války (1973 ).

Users (the list is probably not complete, the number of delivered pieces is at the minimum limit): Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, Egypt (148 pieces under contracts from 1955 to 1957, 100 pieces under contracts from 1967, in case of delivery of another 50 copies is not certain if these machines were of Czechoslovak origin or were Soviet and Czechoslovakia played only the role of mediator - these machines were to be delivered by March 1, 1956), Ethiopia, Yemen (50 pieces, they were Soviet-made vehicles and Czechoslovakia played only the role of mediator), Cuba (50 pieces, these were Soviet-made vehicles and Czechoslovakia played only the role of mediator), Morocco, Romania, Syria (36 pieces delivered approximately between 1955 and 1957)

SD-100 ("937") from the collections of the collections Military museum on demarcation line in Rokycany, Mud 2001. The accident occurred, which shows us torn off hanging the sinker and the first of the running wheel. After crossing the mulde in front of the grandstand to shear off the idler wheel and got under the first roadwheel, which subsequently collapsed from the collateral (the axis of the wheel to the arm stayed there) and even with the belt that broke, it remained composed on the ground. It is interesting that stripped the belt stayed about 200 yards behind the vehicle and the heritage of the tanks , BT it turned out - the machine left..

SD-100 ("3") of the Egyptian Army in camouflage, in which it served during the Suez War (2nd Arab-Israeli War) in 1956, Bovington Tank Museum, 2003 and 2004. All SU-100 used by the Egyptian army were to be manufactured in Czechoslovakia. The vehicle shown here fought in the ranks of a detachment of the Egyptian 1st Armoured Brigade against the Israelis near the town of Abu Aweigila in the Sinai. It was subsequently captured by British soldiers of the 3rd Battalion of the Parachute Regiment at Port Said as part of Operation Musketeer - the British-French landing in Egypt in November 1956. The vehicle is now in a roadworthy condition.

Diskuse

Is there any way to tell SD-100 from SU-100?
URL : https://www.valka.cz/CZK-SD-100-t38481#484451 Version : 0
SD-100 = SU-100. SU-100 is the original Soviet designation = "Samochodnaya ustanovka". In our, Czechoslovak, army the self-propelled gun was introduced under the designation SD-100 = "self-propelled gun".
URL : https://www.valka.cz/CZK-SD-100-t38481#503966 Version : 0
I suppose so - but not visually in plain sight. Rather, on deeper examination - every machine usually has a serial number stamped somewhere, or even a manufacturer's marking... And SD-100 as a licensed production will have it different than the original Soviet machines.
URL : https://www.valka.cz/CZK-SD-100-t38481#503972 Version : 0
I don't think I understand. SU-100 versus SD-100 at a casual glance, unless one really knows these cars to the hilt, one cannot tell a Soviet product from a Czech licensed one. Even on válka.cz you can find that people confuse SU-100 with SU-85. Like all other equipment, this one was of course improved and modified in detail during production both in the USSR and then in Czechoslovakia. In the Oper-II-11 "Manual of Technical Data on Armament and Equipment of the Czechoslovak People's Army" of 1956, the "100" is designated as a "100mm SAMOHYBANE GUN (100mm ShD). Of course, the serial number and other manufacturer's marks are needed to determine where the ShD came from. However, it is possible to come across (personal experience) original SU-100s with parts (sometimes many parts) made here. This information can certainly be tracked down, not only in company archives.

A few more different TTD's listed above from the prescription in question:
height 2240 mm
clearance 350 mm
maximum road speed 55 km/h
average road speed 30 km/h
average off-road speed 10 to 15 km/h
radius of action on the road 300 km
off-road range 200 to 250 km
gradient angle 35°

To visually distinguish between the SU 100 (Soviet) and SD 100 (Czechoslovak), the use of different technology in the production of the front fender covers is a pretty reliable clue. While the Soviet type has rounded covers, the Czechoslovak covers are straight and bevelled downwards. Also, the machining and design of the cast and welded parts is generally more precise on the SD 100, but this can only be determined by a direct comparison of the two machines.
The same criteria apply to the recognition of T 34/85 tanks made in the USSR or Slovakia.

Well done, this is the answer I've been waiting for. The AK-47 was also only one, but you could almost always tell right away which country made it. Just by the details, thanks.
