At the request of the German army on 8 October 1926, Krupp A.G was given the task of designing a self-propelled gun. The specifications were for a 7.5 cm Infanterie-Geschütz which was to use components of the new 7.5 cm Gebirgs-Kanone P. A civilian tracked tractor platform was to be used. The cannon was to use anti-tank ammunition in addition to conventional ammunition. The cannon was to have a range of 15° to either side, and the aiming range was to be from -10° to +40°. The sight was to allow both direct and indirect fire. The cannon shield was to be 8 mm thick, the front of the platform protecting the radiator of the vehicle was to be 10 mm thick. The self-propelled platform was to allow towing a two-axle trailer. The requirement for maximum off-road speed was 12 km/h. In addition to the self-propelled gun, a design for an ammunition vehicle was to be developed to supply the self-propelled gun with ammunition. It was to use the same platform. The ammunition was to be carried in baskets, protected on the sides by 5 mm armour. The first designs were to be presented for consideration in 11/1926. The company's work Krupp A.G on the use of a civilian platform for the self-propelled gun was switched to a new special design for a mobile platform L.S.K. in 10/1937.

The Rheinmetall also participated in the development program for both the self-propelled tank fighter and the self-propelled gun. Its 7/1943 report and project summary from 1922-1940 contained records and photographs of the 3.7 cm Selbstfahrlafette auf Hanomag-Schlepper and 7.7 cm Selbstfahrlafette auf Hanomag-Schlepper respectively. The beginning of the work dates back to 1927.
The platform of the 7.7cm self-propelled gun was a commercial civilian tracked tractorW.D. Schlepper 50 PS by Hanomag. It was one of the first attempts to create a self-propelled gun. The original tracked tractor was modified and armed with a modified F.K. 96 7.7 cm calibre field gun. The crew was probably made up of two men. The vehicle was underpowered, had difficulty negotiating terrain obstacles, and its top speed was low. Overall, it was only an experimental design and serial production was not started. More information is lacking.
