In January 1918 issued by the French navy specifications for several multi-engine flying boats, the biggest was to be able to carry the cannon of the caliber of 75 mm, and two 60kg bombs. The second option should be also for the safety of the at least two motors, the load capacity of 120 kg of bombs and machine should reach a speed of 140 km/h at dostupu 2000 m under 25 minutes, and endurance of 8 hours. On entering the response of all the French companies dealing with seaplanes, although not all managed to build a prototype – Georges Lévy, Tellier, Farman, Latham, Blanchard, Borel-Odier, and, of course, Donnet-Denhaut. Donnet-Denhaut suggested a large, elegant twin-engine patrol flying boat with two engines Hispano-Suiza in the tandem arrangement, the front had a four-bladed, and the rear two-blade propeller. Three to four credits was concentrated in the bow and had a available radio. Armament was limited to a movable machine gun and four bombs. The new machine was given the official designation of the Donnet-Denhaut Hispano Suiza 400 hp bimoteur, or Donnet-Denhaut BM. After the war the company gave him likewise the name of the Donnet-Denhaut DD.10.

The prototype first flew 24. April 1918 and 8. may was the naval air force ordered a series of 30 machines with trupovými numbers 2001-2030, in Addition to Tellieru T. 5 it was about the only place a big order an aeroplane in accordance with these specifications. Their deliveries began in the last months of the war and at the time of the signing of the armistice of 25 of them served in the resorts of the maritime air force in the Ajaccio, Algiers and Toulon. After the end of the war but the type disappeared fairly quickly from the inventory and at the end of the year 1919 has already been conducted in only seven of the machines, neither of which has been assembled. It seems that the "DD.10“ have actually been introduced into service only in Toulon, At the end of the year 1918 was also a version with engines with an output of 300 horsepower operated the Experimental and the receiving centre of naval aviation in Saint-Raphaël. (maybe that's why some sources claim that the serial machines had, unlike the prototype engines with this performance).

"DD.10“ had but a short civil and polocivilní career. Among the 18. April 2. may 1920 was a race of seaplanes between the Monaco, Bizerte and Súsou in north Africa and with the order in mainland France. Of the sixteen registered seaplanes could take off only seven, including Denhaut-Donnetu BM, and only one, Georges Lévy manned enseignem de vaisseau Bellotem managed to complete the route, others, including the DD's gave up due to mechanical problems. At the beginning of 1923, then sure Rigout, a director of the company Compagnie Aéronautique Française d'Extrême-Orient, began operations pvné commercial air routes in Indochina, connecting approximately 170 km distant Saigon and Can Tho. This line started operation under the leadership of šéfpilota Etienne Pouleta with two seaplanes, the three-digit D Lévym 300 ch and the six-digit "DD.10“. Financial problems and lack of interest of potential backers but led to ryychlému the termination of the operation. This removes even the last trace of the greatest at least rtrochu úsěšném machine company Donnet-Denhaut. The indeed, in the meantime, long ago gave up the construction of aircraft and like many others after the war devoted to the manufacture of cars.
