A16E1

History of
The british general staff was in 1937, inspired by the soviet medium tank T-28 to order your own tank of similar concept, the development of prototypes was given to companies LMSR (A14E1) and Nuffield (A16E1). Should be on the harder fast tank multi-tower concept. The whole project was eventually after a couple of changes to the requirements of the 1939 terminated.

A14E1 it was built by the LMSR. He had two machine-gun towers and the main tower armed with 2-librovým a cannon. Vehicle had a weight of 29.5 tons and was powered by a Thornycroft on the performance of 500 horsepower. Complex chassis consisted of a few 12 small travel of the wheels on each side, combined after the two into the trucks. Extreme trucks were odpruženy separately the two outer driving wheel was slightly raised above the plane of the terrain, the internal wheelchairs were odpruženy after two pairs. Belt circulated after eight refundable rollers.

A16E1 was built at the company Nuffield. The concept of virtually the same vehicle, using the Christieho system chassis, was powered by a modified air the engine of Liberty. Even a project of this vehicle was closed in 1939, but its prototype remained unfinished at the time.

Characterization and structure
On top of that rests the tower armed with protitankovým dvoulibrovým cannon (scheduled equipment), machine guns were in two věžičkách at the level of the driver. Virtually a classic then the design of the armor plates přinýtovaných on the angles (probably). On both towers is evident command of the dome, according to the photos probably immobile. On any of the two photos, which I found is not to see, that would have been embedded with at least the machine guns..
