Landsverk, which was almost bankrupt at the end of 1920, was rescued by German investments Gutehoffnungshütte Aktienverein für Bergbau und Hüttenbereich Oberhausen (GHH) . As German activities could not be after the lost World War I, the investment was covered by a Dutch company. They thus acquired 50% of the shares and gained a significant influence on the operation of the factory. The company has become a white horse in the development of German armored vehicles. The knowledge of designer Joseph Vollmer ( LK I / LK II ) was applied in the development of this wheel-belt tank, whether Ferdinand Porsche.
In parallel with this project, we worked on a classic belt tank Strv m / 31 (Landsverk L-10).
The construction of the Strv fm / 31 itself, like any wheel-belt tank project, was too complicated and expensive. The fashion wave of experiments with this type of chassis ended very quickly and this tank was rejected by the army. The prototype was then used as a training aid. The tank bore the army registration number "54". Another project of the Landsverk L-80 wheel-belt tank was based on the Strv fm / 31 type (Landsverk L-30).
