9K111

A portable anti-tank complex with a semi-automatic guidance system designed to destroy visually detected stationary and moving (up to 60 km/h (60 mph)) armoured targets at ranges from 70 m (75 yd) to 2,000 m (2,500 yd)2).

The 9K111 complex consists of:
- 9P135 launcher (9P135M, 9P135M-1)
- 9M111 (9M111-2, 9M111M) missile
- jamming indicator 9S469 (9S469M)
- control and measuring station 9V838 (9V838M), 9V626M, 9V871

The individual launchers (9P135, 9P135M, 9P135M-1) are mutually compatible with all missiles in use (9M111, 9M111-2, 9M111M). The 9S469 jamming indicator is only usable with the 9P135 launcher. The 9S469M jamming indicator is usable with the 9P135M and 9P135M-1 launchers.

The equipment is operated by 3 persons.

2nd generation: dual channel, i.e. with two pairs of controllers
The PTRS rotates again around the lateral axis to increase stability.
It has more favourable technical parameters compared to the 1st generation, which are reflected in the more favourable combat capabilities of this generation PTRS.
Shooting (destruction) of armoured targets at ranges from 75-2500m. Targets are destroyed by cumulative effect .Missile control and guidance to the target is performed by semi-automatic mode.

main parts: missile launcher, launch motor, missile itself
Rocket launcher: storage of the missile and protection from weather and
to execute the aimed shot.To power the PRZ blocks when fired from the 9P135M.
Composition: body, front and rear cover, front and rear z cover, power block, socket joint Ш6, contacts joint Ш7, draw and carrying strap
Launch motor: ejects the missile from the launcher and imparts its initial velocity. Composition:Combustion chamber, nozzle block, electric torch with contact igniter, powder charge, front and rear grille, aerodynamic support, support sleeve
Proprietary missile: aerodynamic with arrow stabilization by four wings at the rear.Rudders are in the front and are rotated by 45˚ against the wings.Stabilizers rotated by 2˚15΄)give a rotation of about 10 rpm
Head section: directs the flight of the missile in the direction and inclination of the aerodynamic wings. It protects the contacts of the combat section. It is in front of the missile.
Steering servo: ballistic cover,
Combat part with igniter: cumulative, it is between the head part and the flight engine. It is a separate unit: body(thin-walled shell), contact attachment to close the electric circuit of the igniter at the moment of the missile's impact with the target.
Cumulative charge:provides the shaping of the cumulative beam, piercing the armour with kinetic energy.
Composition: of main and additional cumulus charge (OKFOL)
inert liner (foam plastic), copper cumulus liner
Igniter 9E234: bottom, electromechanical, secured type with mask safety, impact with immediate effect, with pyrotechnic self-destruct Composition: safety and release mechanism, mask safety mechanism
self-destruct mechanism, detonation mechanism
Operation of the 9E234 fuze: In flight, nothing happens except for the gradual burning of the self-destruct delay mechanism. When the projectile hits an obstacle, the head section deforms and the cones of the contact extension mechanically connect. This closed circuit discharges the capacitor to the electric fuze of the fuze. The detonation wave from the fuze is transmitted through the portable cartridges to the action cartridge of the fuze and to the cumulative cartridge of the warhead. If the projectile misses the target and there is no impact, then after the self-destruct time has elapsed, the retardor burns out between the disconnected contacts of the switch, and the latter connects the capacitor circuit to the electric fuze.

Flight motor:To impart and maintain a constant speed of flight of the missile throughout the homing period. It is located between the combat and instrument sections.
It is a single-chamber,two-stage solid-propellant rocket motor.
Composition:combustion chamber, shielding cover, powder charge(smokeless powder grain of cylindrical shape),electric burner, lid with support.
Instrument part: It is located at the rear of the missile.
Composition: body, 4 wings, coil with microcable, infrared illuminator
control block, coordinator, gas switch, inertia fuse

The 9K111 Fagot (AT-4 Spigot in NATO code) is the first Soviet PTRK of the second generation (the missile is designated 9M111). The Fagot has a SACLOS guidance system with transmission of control commands by wire, and was developed at the Konstruktorskoye bjuro priborostrojenija-KBP (Precision Mechanical Engineering Design Bureau) in Tula. During the development, the biggest problem was the guidance system, but all problems were overcome and in 1970 the Fagot was accepted into service. It was the first Russian-made PTRK to have the missile housed in a transport and launching container. This container subsequently became commonplace for all other PTRKs. Due to its light weight (the launcher weighs 22.5kg, the missile container 13kg), the Fagot kit is primarily used in a portable version. However, it can also be mounted on BVP-2 and BMD-1/2 combat vehicles. In 1973, the upgraded 9K111M Fagot-M (also referred to as Faktorija) was then introduced with an improved rocket motor, which subsequently improved its range from 2,000m to 2,500m. The upgraded Fagot-M uses a more effective cumulus warhead. The effectiveness of the Fagot PTRK can be increased by installing a thermal imager to the targeting and guidance unit of the 9P135 launcher. The Fagot kit was introduced into the armament of all Warsaw Pact armies. The range of the missile is from 75m to 2500m, the length of the missile is 875mm, the diameter of the missile body is 120mm, and the weight of the missile is 7.3kg.

Basically you need to distinguish what is a PTRS 9m111 Fagot , 9m111 M Faktorija , 9m113 Audition and what is a complete PTRK 9k111 missile . The 9k111 Fagot kit consists of a 9p135 (M,M1) launcher and one of the three PTRS mentioned above.
I assume that the introduction to the CSRL was in the early eighties , as they were introduced to SA in the mid seventies. The following species were introduced into the PRC :

Anti-tank artillery:
portable PTRK 9K111 - OZ 9p135 (M,M1) - armament of separate anti-tank batteries of motorized artillery regiments (in the later organization of pt.batteries of motorized artillery /mechanized/ battalions)

mobile PTRK 9K111 - OZ 9p148 based on BRDM-2 - armament of anti-tank detachments of motor-artillery regiments.

The organizational structure of an artillery regiment was not the same since the introduction of 9k111 but changed over time , so it is necessary to indicate with what year and from this we can derive the org. structure of the units of the regiment.....

PTRS 9m111 , 9m111M , 9m113 can also be fired from BVP-2 (BMP-1P,BMD-2)

it's hard to say how all the confusion over the 9K111 and 9K113 designations came about .... Smile Smile Smile

perhaps it may be due to the SA procurement in the late 60's for a new anti-tank supersonic missile follow-on to FAGOT.... The Design Bureau of Precision Engineering (Konstruktorskoye bjuro priborostrojenija - KBP) in Tula convinced the then SA leadership of the problems , which this solution would bring and developed an improved version of the FAGOT PTRS under the name GOBOJ , the designation of which was changed to KONKURZ in 1970 during development after introduction into the armament to 9m113 KONKURZ. Both PTRS (FAGOT and KONKURZ) used the same launcher 9p135 (M,M1) ground control device 9S451M:controller 9Š119M1 . For the 9m113 missile, two mobile devices were developed 9p137 (BRDM-2-GAZ 4108) - which fired only 9m113 (according to Western sources) and 9p148 (BRDM-2-GAZ 4108) which is capable of firing both PTRS...

this is the whole source of confusion in my opinion - 2 different missiles are fired from the same launcher ( ground control device 9S451M:control device 9Š119M1)

and finally a resolution that I share... Smile
according to this source www.designation-systems.net and my belief, the designation 9K113 belongs to the kit Sturm V and Sturm S with missiles 9M114, 9M114P , 9M114F and 9K113M belongs to the kit Ataka with missiles 9M120 , 9M120D, 9M120F

it is still possible that I am wrong.... Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

podľa tohto zdroja www.designation-systems.net a môjho presvedčenia patrí označenie 9K111 pre komplet Šturm V a Šturm S s raketami 9M114, 9M114P , 9M114F a 9K111M pre komplet Ataka s raketami 9M120 , 9M120D, 9M120F

I think the problem's gonna be a little convoluted.
At http://rbase.new-factoria.ru/, they have two 9K113 systems:
Противотанковый ракетный комплекс 9К113 "Конкурс" rbase.new-factoria.ru as a continuation of 9K111
a
Противотанковый комплекс 9К113 "Штурм-С" rbase.new-factoria.ru which is apparently mislabeled (it should be 9K114), but in the text of the article, although the author consistently sticks to the 9K113 designation, Противотанковый ракетный комплекс "Штурм-В" rbase.new-factoria.ru is already listed as 9К114 "Штуурм-С" and literally states

Citace :

Авиационный ракетный противотанковый комплекс "Штурм-В" создан на базе наземного самоходного противотанкового комплекса 9К114 "Штурм-С"

In fact, the 9K1XX series of codenames is missing 9K114 and there are two substantially different 9K113 systems.
So there was a mistake somewhere... The site www.designation-systems.net apparently got it wrong - except that it is considered an "authoritative source", so the error is being spread further.

The www.russianarms.ru site lists the 9K114 Штуурм-С with the 9P149 combat vehicle and the 9M114/9M120 missiles
It also lists the 9K114 Штурм-С www.russarms.com

The www.russianarms.ru site states:

Only then it's mislabeled on http://rbase.new-factoria.ru as well Confused

Question: Is PTŘS 9K135 Cornet a continuation of the above series of Soviet (Russian) PT weapons ?? If so, what is the fundamental difference (or differences)? Thank you.
