major Farit Muchametzjanovich FATKULIN
He was born on March 17, 1914 in Kazan in the family of a sales assistant as the youngest of six children. The nationality was Tatar. He received his education at the time more than decent, as he attended seven primary school classes and then studied at a racing school for three years. After finishing his apprenticeship, he worked as a confectioner in the Kazan confectionery factory "Zarja". By the way, this company still exists and produces confectionery under the same brand even today.
He joined the Red Army in 1932, after two years he graduated from the Military Aviation School in Stalingrad and was transferred to the Air Regiment in Leningrad Military circle. Due to his excellent piloting technique and tough nature, he climbed the imaginary career ladder quickly. In a short time, he was appointed commander of the swarm and was promoted to the rank of senior lieutenant. The veil of secrecy is the eight months he spent as a volunteer in China as part of "international aid to the Chinese nation," as Soviet propaganda so aptly called the USSR's military interference in foreign affairs. All we know is that he returned from China as a squadron commander and in the rank of captain.
In 1939, he joined his unit in the so-called Winter War with Finland. During the conflict, he was the first to shoot down an enemy aircraft, but it is not known what type of aircraft it was. During the fighting in Finland, he was awarded the Order of the Red Star on January 26, 1941[/url=/topic/view/119511]. At the time of the invasion of the Soviet Union by Hitler's coalition troops, he also served with his squadron at the airport near Moscow, the capital of the USSR. Paradoxically, the outbreak of the war that cost the Soviet Union the lives of millions of people saved lives. On a patrol flight a week before the outbreak of war, a German plane that violated Soviet airspace shot down Lucka. It was a serious offense with possible unforeseen consequences. A non-aggression pact was in force between the Soviet Union and Germany, and Stalin suffered from the fixed idea that a similar incident could provoke Germany into an unexpected attack. The position of captain Fatkulin before the military tribunal was thus prevented only by the outbreak of war, resp. chaotic situation in its first months.
By October 1941, Captain[/a] Fatkulin had made 42 combat flights. Only a flight in which there was a fight with enemy fighters, shelling and bombing of enemy positions, or a successful reconnaissance, was considered a combat flight. During the attacks on the airports, he destroyed or damaged seventeen enemy aircraft on the ground. For all this, he was awarded the highest Soviet state decoration on November 20, 1941: The title Hero of the Soviet Union with the right to wear the Golden Star hero and Leninov work.
At the beginning of November 1941, the squadron was reformed into an air regiment. This one was first named 92. fighter air regiment, later renamed the 929th Fighter Air Regiment. The freshly promoted major Fatkulin became the regiment commander. In February 1942, he suffered severe leg injuries in air combat, but after a month of treatment, he managed to return to his unit. Lucky left him on Monday, July 27, 1942. He succumbed to enemy fighters in an air battle, but he took at least two of them from himself. Some sources even state that before he fell, he managed to shoot down three enemy planes. His comrades-in-arms buried him at 176, northwest of Stalingrad, over which he had fought his last battle.
