At the end of 1944, a modification of the self-propelled gun was ordered Grille Ausf.M using a chassis PzKpfw.38 (t). Instead of a 150mm howitzer, a 30mm fast-fire aircraft cannon was to be mounted MK 103 of the company Rheinmetall. Two machines were to be converted to a self-propelled anti-aircraft tank. There is little information about this variant, but images of these machines from the fighting in the Prague Uprising in 5/1945 have been preserved. It was more of an improvisation. The machines were deployed in an unknown German unit. Captured after the war, they were led for some time in the state of the Czechoslovak army. In 8/1945, these prototypes were conducted in the state of the 1st Tank Battalion in Prague.

Note:
According to the source below, the provisional numbers were carried by OJ 322 and by OJ 325 [* 2 *]. However, the designation ÚV 325 in the post-war review of the captured Jagdpanzer 38 (t) published by [* 3 *] by the same authors is this designation attributed to the machine serial number 323878. This means that it was a Jagdpanzer 38 (t), respectively. Bergepanzer 38 (t). An interesting theory published on www.network54.com John Morrison, which deduces whether the designation ÚV 325 should not belong 3 cm Mk 103 auf Bergepanzer 38 (t). It was a similar conversion as this conversion Grille, but on the platform Bergepanzer 38 (t). The fact is that the published data speak of the conversion of two unspecified vehicles into anti-aircraft tanks. According to source [* 2 *], these conversions were attributed to the Grille platforms. These machines were to appear in the lists of captured material in the Czechoslovak army. This discrepancy gives the possibility to speculate whether only one Grille vehicle with a 3cm MK 103 cannon was actually produced and the second prototype was made on the platform Bergepanzer 38 (t).

Note 2:
According to the source mentioned under the note, one machine (captured May 9, 1945) was to be conducted in the state of the 1st Tank Battalion 1st area just after the war. The source states that it should have been marked ÚV 339.
On May 17, 1945, he was sent as part of the 4th Field Squadron to Hradec Králové, from where he was subsequently to move to the border area. However, it was probably damaged soon, because it no longer appears in the report on the state of the art as of June 15, 1945. The last mention of this machine is the report of the battalion warehouse from 31.8.1945, when it was still in the records. Other destinies are unknown.

Diskuse

Probably the first photo I have of this mutant was taken in Prague I in one of the streets intersecting with U Radnice street (the sign is visible in the photo). The machine is abandoned probably for a very short time - there are still "camouflage" branches on it and it has a very large crate on the back of the body at the level of the top edge!!!
I am of course talking about the 1945 Prague Uprising.

After the end of the fighting, the machine was deployed in Hradec Kralove together with several originally rebel Hetzers!!!

Dear Sirs,
colleague brano submitted photographs that can be identified by the book: Prague under the armor of the insurgents. All the pictures were allegedly taken on May 9, 1945. Most of them show a vehicle standing in the lower part of Wenceslas Square, first in front of the Koruna Palace and then on the corner of the streets: Ovocná (now October 28) and Na můstku.

From this series deviates the photo No. forumvalkacz2_177, which was allegedly taken the same day, but in Střešovice in Dlabačov in the area of the intersection of the streets: Říšská silnice (now Bělohorská) and Vaníčkova.

Tomáš Jakl states that at the turn of 1944/45, two prototypes were created on the chassis of self-propelled guns, when the original weapon was replaced by a 3-cm-Flak38/103 "Jaboschreck". He further claims that this reconstruction did not work, but was still deployed by the Germans in the fighting in May 1945.

According to Tomáš Jakl, there are pictures of two different Grille machines with 3 cm (see differences in details and camouflage), which will be published in the future.
