An all-terrain truck designed to carry up to 20 people and cargo up to a maximum weight of 5,290 kg.


It was selected in a tender in 1996 as a successor to the obsolete Praga V3S. In 1997, 15 vehicles were delivered in the military roller version as part of a verification series for the needs of the Czech Armed Forces. Later on, several cars with box bodies (prototype MRRP 4p) and a driver training version with dual controls were purchased. In 1998, a framework contract was signed between the manufacturer and the Czech army, according to which deliveries of these vehicles were to continue until 2003. However, this did not happen in the end, because further orders from the Czech Army were practically stopped, with very negative consequences for the manufacturer. It had invested considerable funds in the development and production of the R210 type, which it did not recover, which was one of the reasons for its subsequent demise.


The R210.12 VV was used in the ranks of the Czech army only in very small numbers (between 1997 and 1999, 21 vehicles were to be produced for the army in all versions) because its manufacturer, ROSS (Roudnice strojírny a slévárny), eventually went bankrupt. The design documentation and the intellectual rights for the production were purchased at the end of 2002 by Kopřivnice-based Tatra, which prepared the vehicle R210M based on them.


At the end of the first decade of the new millennium, one of the largest users of these vehicles in the ranks of the Czech Armed Forces was Ammunition Base in Týniště nad Orlicí, which operated four R210.12 VVs. Two more were operated by the 157th Rescue Battalion in 2008. At this time, however, the clouds began to slowly recede over the further operation of these vehicles in the ranks of the Czech army. In 2011, six vehicles were scrapped (four of them - VPZ 221 01-51, 230 45-24, 450 58-88, 469 94-46 - are shown in the photos below), which were Ministry of Defence offered for sale mostly for CZK 166,800. One R210 was bought by a Prague company organizing expeditionary trips. The machine was fitted with a box body and serves as an assistance vehicle for long-distance rallies. The other (probably three) vehicles were purchased by a manufacturer of truck cranes and converted one piece each to the AD-10 and AD-080 types. By 2012, only single R210.12 VVs were in regular Army service. In April 2017, one vehicle (VPZ 232 92-93) was donated to the Technical Museum in Brno. In October 2021, another R210 (VPZ 226-37-68) was sold to a civilian bidder for 340,000 CZK.
