EE-T1 Osorio
The development of the Osorio tank was started by the Brazilian company ENGESA in 1983 (other sources say 1982). The development work went in two directions, with the EE-T1 (equipped with a 105 mm cannon) and the EE-T2 (equipped with a 120 mm cannon). The first EE-T1 prototype was built in 1985.
Users: it was not introduced into service (Saudi Arabia was interested in the Osorio tank, but eventually opted for the M1 Abrams after the Gulf War in early 1991)

Osorio
The Brazilian tank Osorio, which became the first tank designed by the Brazilian arms industry (the main development was led by Engesa Engenheiros Especializados SA), was developed in two versions - EE-T1 and EE-T2. The construction of the first prototype was started in 1984. Due to the lack of interest of its own army and due to lack of interest from abroad, serial production did not begin.
The name Osorio comes from the name of a Brazilian cavalry general from the 19th century. The tank is a classic design. The armament consists of a L7A3 cannon (licensed by the British company Royal Ordnance Factory) equipped with thermal protection of the barrel. The cannon is stabilized in two planes controlled by electrical devices. Additional equipment consists of 2 machine guns - one coupled with a cannon and a PL machine gun on a circular mount on the tower. The equipment also includes two heat exchangers with six smoke grenades.
The fire control system is equipped with a combined observation and aiming system of the Belgian company OPI Optics type SCS-5 (for commanders). The shooter has an LRS-5 aiming device and the crew also has a Savior laser radiation warning system (from Racal).
The drive is provided by a 12-cylinder TBD 234-V-12 engine with an output of 765 kW at 2300 rpm and a volume of 12.6 l, the acceleration time from 0 to 32 km/h is 11 s.
The tank has a hydromechanical gearbox LSG 3000 (German company ZF), which is in an integrated block with the engine.
In May 1985, a prototype marked P-2 was introduced, later marked EE-T2 and equipped with a 120mm cannon with a smooth bore, mainly type CN 120 from the French company GIAT. It is equipped with thermal protection (the possibility of installing a Russian cannon caliber 125 mm with a smooth bore barrel 2A46, used in tanks T- 72 and T-80).
The cannon is stabilized in two planes. The fire control system is of the CENTAUR type (from Marconi) containing a ballistic computer, passive day-night observation and aiming devices. The commander has a panoramic SFIM VS580-10, the shooter uses a stabilized sight SFIM VS580-19E and a laser rangefinder. It is also possible to install the UA-9090 thermal imager from Phillips.
The engine is identical to the previous type.
There are also projects on the Osorio chassis from Engesa: - self-propelled howitzer 155mm caliber with the installation of the Austrian howitzer GHN-45, - double-barreled anti-aircraft system with 30mm cannons. - rescue tank - bridge tank
