The Armed Forces of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan appears to have lost a Mil Mi-17V-5 helicopter that was shot down by anti-Taliban fighters in Panjshir . The helicopter crew made a successful emergency landing, however the machine is severely damaged. No information on casualties or injuries is known.

According to Afghan sources, the incident took place on 16.06.2022. The Taliban admitted that it lost the helicopter and crew, but denied that it was shot down. According to them, the helicopter was involved in supplying troops fighting the insurgents and had to make an emergency landing after it started having technical problems. The helicopter (and crew) subsequently fell into rebel hands.
