In the provinci Helmand the crashed helicopter Sikorsky CH-53D Sea Stallion belonging to the squadron of heavy helicopters of HMH-363 "Lucky Red Lions", 24. the airline group, 1. the air wing of the USMC (Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 363 the "Lucky Red Lions", Marine Aircraft Group 24, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing). Six members of the US Marine Corps in the crash died.
