ST-68U "Tin Shield"

Citace :

The ST-68U radar is a short and medium range 3D surveillance radar developed for air defence systems and anti-aircraft missile complexes.
The ST-68U radar is currently the only 3D surveillance radar introduced in the arsenal of the Army and is one of the most advanced electronic systems imported from the countries of the former USSR. From the technical point of view, however, it fully corresponds to the time of completion of development, i.e. the 1970s. Approximately 1000 radars of this type are deployed in European and Asian countries in many variants.

35D6/36D6 - mobile radar system designed to detect and recognize (own - foreign) air targets. The radar enables the detection and recognition of targets in conditions of active and passive interference, or when using anti-radar missiles, is equipped with a computer-controlled control system of anti-aircraft missile complexes.

The 35D6/36D6 radar is highly effective in detecting targets flying at low, medium and high altitudes, flying at different speeds, including targets with an effective radar reflecting surface around 0.1 m2

The 35D6/36D6 radar can be & # 357; included in the structure of air defense as follows
- standalone as an overview radar
- part of & # 357; anti-aircraft missile system S-300PS (S-300PMU).

The 35D6/36D6 radar is characterized by high maneuverability. It is equipped with its own location detection system and also transported with the energy security system (version without lifting device 40V6M1) by means of two KrAZ cars.
The radar antenna system can be & # 357; placed on a lifting platform 40V6M1 to a height of 23 m to improve the detection capabilities of the system.

The radar enables effective suppression of the display of targets with zero or constant low speed (meteorological phenomena, passive interference, reflection from ground objects), ensures measurement of all parameters of the target (azimuth, distance, height, speed, vector), allows you to simultaneously display and record & # 357; data on up to 100 goals, of which 30-60 can track in automatic mode.
The air situation is automatically converted to digital form and displayed on a parallel-connected workstation of the automated command system, through which targets are determined for further processing. The automated command system is capable of transmitting & # 357; complete information on the air target, including speed and vector.
The radar is further equipped with a remote control system and a built-in control system that automatically monitors the individual blocks and elements of the radar, and in the event of a fault, the system automatically indicates the cause.

The radar is equipped with a system of protection against the effects of weapons of mass destruction (FBUA-100) and air conditioning unit 1K23.

Communication equipment enables data and telephone communication and speakerphone.

The 35D6/36D6 radar consisting of an antenna unit and a work cabin is located on a 6UF6 trailer, the set also includes a 99CH6 (99X6) generator located on the trailer. The 36D6-1-1V radar assembly also includes a 40V6M1 lifting platform located on another trailer.

In November 2008 (11/2008), the Ukrainian manufacturer of 36D6 radars informed that they had successfully sold 1 36D6M radar to the US Armed Forces. This radar will probably be used for training of combat aircraft operators (and aircraft - jammers) in overcoming the air defense systems of states using PLRS S-300.
