Engineer Group Headquarters I [1935-1938]


The command was established on 18 April 1935 by renaming it from the Special Fortification Group of the Provincial Military Command in Prague. It was located in the Old Town and was subordinated to the Directorate of Fortification Works [1935-1939]. The command was responsible for the construction of fortifications on a line about 26 km long between the 783 Maliník and 1351 Šerák, and a stretch of less than 7 km between the 813 Nad Výrovkou and 917 Dlouhá hora, on which 79 buildings (isolated infantry logs, one isolated artillery log) were laid out. By September 1938, 28 buildings had been designed and commissioned, none of which had been completed.
The Engineer Group Headquarters included:
A headquarters with an economic administration and an auxiliary platoon,
Heavy Fortification Construction Subdivision 1/I [1938] (from May 1938),
Heavy Fortification Construction Subdivision 2/I [1938] (from May 1938),
Heavy Fortification Construction Subunit 3/I [1938] (from May 1938),
Guard Battalion XII [1937-1938] (September 1937 - January 1938).


The commander of the Engineer Group Command was:
Colonel of Engineers František Baron (from April 1935).
