Also. battalion of the regiment was established in Stendal to 1. April 1938 from the IV. battalion of the regiment of general Goering. II. battalion of the regiment was established in Brunswick to 1. January 1939 of the members of the parachute infantry battalion, which until then was part of the ground troops. At the same date was in the Gardelegenu formed a totally new III. battalion. Only when 1. June 1939 was in Stendal established the headquarters of the regiment. Each of the three battalions consisted of four companies. In march 1944, he was III. the battalion handed over to the 3. paradesantní division, which served to form the new 5. parachute regiment. Instead, it was created new.
