Regiment status in July 1914: ethnic composition: 55% Austrians, 41% Italians, 4% others additional district: Innsbruck - Brixen - Trient (currently Innsbruck in Austria and Bressanone - Trento in Italy)
Regiment classification in August 1914: KJR 2 in the 15th Infantry Brigade of the 3rd Infantry Division (XIV Army Corps) - a regiment designed for the front in Galicia against Russia

In 1895, the Tyrolean Hunting Regiment was divided, which at that time already consisted of twelve battalions and four cadres of replacement battalions. The 2nd Regiment of the Tyrolean Imperial Hunters was formed from the 5th to 8th Field Battalions and the 2nd Battalion of the Replacement Battalion.
