The original 21. tank division was destroyed in Africa. The order of 15. July 1943 was 21. panzer division, newly established in the French Rennes the reorganization and rozšížením Quick brigade of the West. The status of the brigade expanded the men to leave and rekonvalescenti from the state of the original division.

In August 1944, the division was supplemented by foot soldiers 16. the field division of the air force. 21. tank division was destroyed in the boiler at Falaise.
