The Mirage 2000TH of the 1st Squadron "Tigers" of 40 Wing from Gwalior/Maharajpur crashed during a routine flight about 100 km from the base near Gorelalkapura village. Shortly after take-off, while still climbing, an engine failure occurred. Both pilots ejected.
Interestingly, Air Marshal Anil Chopra was on board, making him one of the highest-ranking pilots in the Indian Air Force who was on board the aircraft when it crashed. With him there was also Wing Commander Ram Kumar.
