2B9 Vasiljok

2B9 is an automatic rear mortar charged with a set of 4 mines. The rate of fire is up to 40 - 60 rounds/min. A set of four mines is fired in two seconds. The 82-mm barrel is mounted on a bearing which is pulled over the arms behind the vehicle. In combat, the wheels are raised and the weight of the mortar is transferred to a turntable. The mortar cradle is not directly fixed to the plate but to the hydraulic shock absorbers which allow the weapon a high elevation for indirect fire. An ammunition magazine passes through this cradle. The elevation is from 0 to 80 °. From 2B9 can be fired as a mortar by the upper group of angles or for automatic direct firing as a light or anti-tank cannon (using a sight for direct firing) using an automatic charger. The range for direct shooting is 1000 m and for indirect shooting from 100 to 5000 m. The weapon can be towed or is normally transported on the loading area of the modified GAZ-66 4x4 or other tractor with a load capacity of 2000 kg. Versions of MT-LB equipped with 2B9 Vasiljok were also recorded

The mentioned version of the mortar on the chassis MT - LB, used in Afghanistan. The mortar has the wheels removed and is attached to the top of the vehicle. It is assumed that this is a field modification of the armament, but often used.
