Anti-aircraft missile complex of the small range of the 2K12 Kub (NATO code SA-6 Gainful) is a mobile device intended for air defense of important objects and groupings of the ground forces from means of air attack of the adversary. The next task may be the damming of the main self-seeding directions of the enemy. PLŘS of the complex Kub in version 3M9M3E is capable of destroying aircraft, helicopters and cruise missiles, which move at speeds of up to 600 m/s on arrival, and up to 300 m/s on the flight at altitudes up to 7 000 m at a distance of 23 km. 3m9 missiles uses semi-active guidance system.

2K12 Kub should be able to trouble-free operation in each time of the day or night time, in the temperature range from -40 to +50°C, at relative air humidity up to 98% corresponding to a temperature of 25°C, ground wind velocity to 20 m/s and in the activities in the field to an altitude of 1 000 m. the Highest altitude permissible for the operation of the complex during the power supply from external sources amounts to 3 000 m.

The basic tactical unit of the armed system Kub's anti-aircraft missile battery, which is capable of independent combat operations. Anti-aircraft missile battery consists of one control and homing radar 1S91, four missile launchers 2P25 and two charging transveyors 2T7.


The development took place in the years 1958 to 1966, the late sixties introduced into the armament of the soviet army. Since the seventies used in the armies of soviet satellites and allies - the countries of the Warsaw pact, Egypt, Syria, (2K12 has been exported to about 22 - 25 countries).

Combat: War of Yom Kippur (1973, on the side of Egypt and Syria), the Iraqi-iranian war (1980 - 1988, on the side of Iraq), the Israeli invasion of Lebanon - operation Peace for Galilee (1982, on the side of Syria), gulf War (1991, on the side of Iraq), War in the Balkans (1991 - 1999, on the side of Yugoslavia/Serbia).

Control and guidance radar 1S91M2


The radar provides detection, identification and tracking of targets flying at altitudes from 30 m to 7,000 m. The maximum range of the radar is 50 km, and the maximum range of target interception is 42 km. The rotation speed for airspace reconnaissance is 15 revolutions per minute. The inclination of the RLS station can be a maximum of 4,5°. The crew consists of four persons - a commander, a driver and two operators. The vehicle takes about 7 minutes to deploy and 5 minutes to roll up.


1S91M2 has two RLS:
The 1S11[/i] control radar is designed to circle the airspace, select air targets, determine the coordinates of the detected targets and transmit them to the gunnery radar.

The 1S31[/i] gunnery radar is designed to locate and intercept a specified target, track it in range and angular coordinates, transmit instantaneous coordinates to the 2P25M2 launcher, and irradiate the target and missiles with continuously radiated energy.

Launchers 2P25M2

Launchers 2P25M2 is used for the carriage, aiming and firing missiles 3M9M3E on target. Details of the objectives are of the device 2P25 transmitted from the ground and shooting radar 1S91M2. Launch missiles at the target is possible only in synergy launcher 2P25M2 and ŘNLS 1S91M2. Missiles 3M9M3E may be from one of the launcher detonated with an interval of at least 6 seconds. The slope of the habitat resource 2P25M2 can be a maximum of 4°. The operator consists of three men - commander, driver and operator. Launchers is able to resist the fragments of artillery shells and bullets from infantry weapons. The time required to charge the launcher with three missiles amounts to 9 - 10 minutes. Transfer from marching into combat position is approximately 5.5 minutes, the curl lasts approximately 5 minutes.

the Charging container, 2T7M

The charging container 2T7M ensures loading, transportation and composition of the assembled missiles ready for combat use on launchers 2P25M2. 2T7M is a modified medium truck ZIL-131 equipped with a superstructure for the imposition of a trio of rockets 3M9M3E, for handling used hydraulic crane 4033B. The rockets are in transit protected by a steel structure, which is additionally covered with a tarp. 3M9M3E on the hook of the crane hangs up through a special beam. The operator consists of two persons.

9T22 is used to transport six 3M9 missiles either in special containers or separately. It is a set consisting of a tractor unitZIL-157KV and a two-axle semi-trailer, both axles are driven.

The task of 9G22 built in the same way. on the chassis of a truck ZIL-131is a transport of compressed air and its filling into the tank 382; 3M9 missiles. The superstructure consists of ten compressed air tanks, connected to the compressed air tank. Each has a volume of 10 liters. The weight of the medium is 9.75 t.

In the days of 1. to 5. June 2015 to 200 members 25. anti-aircraft missile regiment of Strakonice and the infantry company Active backups at the Regional military headquarters České Budějovice involved in the exercise to SAFEGUARD the Temelín 2015 in the surroundings of Temelín Nuclear power station. The theme of the exercises was the security and protection of the plant from the ground or air by a terrorist attack in cooperation with the Police of the CZECH republic.
