Jedno z nejrozšířenějších a nejlepších protitankových děl v Evropě do konce roku 1940. Konstrukce začala v roce 1928, první koňmi tažená verze na loukoťových kolech se objevila v roce 1928, kovová kola a možnost mototrakce v roce 1934. První bojové nasazení ve Španělsku 1936. Dělo bylo široce exportováno, kromě jiného i do SSSR, zde ukořistěná děla dostala označení Pak 158(r). Do roku 1941 bylo vyrobeno asi 15 000kusů. Po roce 1941 byl již kanon považován za zastaralý a byl převeden k jednotkám v zázemí. Pro střelbu proti pěchotě byl pro kanon vyvinut tzv. Stiel Granate 41 což byl nadkaliberní granát naszovaný na hlaveň.

So a little about the history of the cannon:


The development of this cannon dates back to 1922, when Rheinmetall was commissioned to develop a new anti-tank cannon, although the development and armament of such a cannon was forbidden to Germany according to the Versais Agreement. At the end of 1928, the first models of the cannon were made, which bore the designation 3.7 cm Tankabwehrkanone 28 L/54. The cannon was manufactured by Rheinmetall-Borsig.
Cannon 3.7 Tak 28 L/45 caliber 37 mm weighing 435 kg had a light carriage equipped with wooden arched wheels with a tubular bed to which was attached a barrel with a semi-automatic horizontal wedge breech. The cannon could fire at speeds of up to 20 rounds per minute. At the time (at the end of the 1920s), it was one of the best PTKs in the world. It was introduced into the armament with various minor modifications, for example, Turkey, Spain, Italy, Japan.
PTK had a shield protecting the operator by th. 5 mm, with the top of the shield on the hinges, so it could be folded. With the support arms open, the 60 ° measurement was only 6 ° with the arms closed.
Between 1928 and 1933, 200 pieces were produced.
In 1934, the cannon was modernized, at first glance the cannon got new wheels wrapped in tires, but there were also modifications to the bed and carriage. After this modernization, the cannon was named 3.7 cm Panzerabwehrkanone 35/36 (3.7 cm Pak 35/36 L45).
Then the 35/36 Reichswer units were the first to get into service, the Wermacht received them from March 1935. The PTK price in 1939 was 5,730.0 RM.
With the developing production of 3.7 cm Pak 35/36, the 3.7 cm Tak 28 cannons were withdrawn to training units and warehouses.
The first cannon baptism took place in Spain in the Condor legions. The fighting at the time showed that they could easily destroy T-26 and BT-5 tanks from a distance of 700-800 m.
During the French campaign after a collision with tanks with armor over 68 mm, it came as a surprise that this PTK no longer has sufficient ballistic performance for heavily armored vehicles. The final end of cannon production meant an encounter with Soviet T34 and KV tanks. Production was terminated in 1942. At the end of his career, the cannon was given the special nickname "wormhole" on the Eastern Front. A total of 16,539 works were produced, with 5,339 copies for the period 1939-1942.


Version:
A light version was created for Luftwaffe airborne units. 3.7 cm Pak auf Leichter Feldlaffete. The cannon was to be worn under the fuselage Ju 52/3m and on its main landing gear legs.

Cannons were used until the end of the war on March 1, 1945. There were 216 of them in service and another 670 cannons in warehouses.
