This division was formed in late January 1945 in the Kurmarku. Originally it was only the combat group (Kampfgruppe) under the name Kampfgruppe Kurmark.
Was formed from volunteers, instructors and pupils of the training schools of the SS and other "lost souls". Was deployed into the fighting on the Oder in the area of the bridgehead near Frankfurt, where, during the heavy fighting in February and march of 1945 suffered heavy losses. Part of the units of the division fought in the south of Berlin.
Some of the remnants of its units managed to succeeded in Tangermunde in may 1945 surrender to the Allies..

In February 1945 had a division of 12,000 men, and was engaged in battles on the Oder at Frankfurt, where it suffered heavy losses in February and march of 1945. Part of the division was destroyed in the pocket of Halbe. Another part of the fighting in southern Berlin. Part of the division surrendered to the Americans at the Tanngermünde in may 1945.
