This weapon constructed under the patent of Eng. The weapon used the chassis of the older Pak 35/36 of 37mm calibre but had a slightly different shield and of course the reinforcement given by the greater power of the weapon. The barrel tapered from the original 40.5mm at the chamber to 29.4mm at the muzzle. The problem was that the weapon needed special ammunition with Wolfram core for its high performance, but Wolfram was a scarce material and therefore the weapon was not widely used. Production ended in 1942. The weapons produced were used as long as there was ammunition for them, after which they were apparently destroyed. The use of the guns is still recorded in Italy in 1943 (in Rome), later they were apparently used by paratroopers in Italy whether they moved with them to other battlefields is questionable. As far as I know to this day no museum has preserved this weapon.

Dělo vyvinula firma Mauser, konstrukční práce byly započaty na jaře 1941 a jedná se jak je napsáno výše o zbraň s kuželovitou hlavní. Hlaveň byla z důvodů opotřebení vyrobena ze speciální oceli legované Wolframem, Molybdenem a Wanadem. Dělo bylo vybavené vodorovným poloautomatickým klínovým závěrem, který umožnoval střelbu rychlostí 10-12 ran za minutu. Dělo bylo skutečně osazeno na lafetu 3,7 cm Pak 35/36 u které bylo pozměněno pouze lůžko (viz. přiložené fotografie). Při rozevřených opěrných ramenech byl odměr 41°.


Výroba děla z důvodu vytížení kapacit Rheinmetall-Borsig a Mauseru byla převedena do firmy Billerer - Künz v Ascherslebenu. Do konce roku 1941 bylo vyrobeno 37 děl.


Dle mých zdrojů bylo jednotkám Wafenn SS dodáno 25 ks a Luftwaffe dostalo 117 ks.
Celkem vyrobeno 313 kusů.
Cena 7 800,0 RM
Výroba byla ukončena v červnu 1942 (nedostatek wolframu).


Děla byla nasazena v Severní Africe, Itálii a SSSR.
1.3.1945 bylo 9 děl na frontě a 17 ve skladech.

Životnost hlavně pouhých 1 000 výstřelů což je 5-10 krát míň než u 3,7 cm Pak 35/36.
