Company Atelier Puteaux (APX) has developed this cannon as a replacement cannon caliber 25 mm. SA mle 37 (and its almost identical version of the mle. 39) has been used effectively in the fight with the germans. The germans captured large quantities of these weapons, to be used for divisions in france under the designation 4.7 cm Pak 181(f) (for model 37) and 4.7 cm Pak 183(f) (for model 39) .
