The company Purdey, right "James Purdey" and at the time of manufacture of the hub apparently "James Purdey and sons" was not a trading company. It was a family firm of excellent gunsmiths (work from the year 1814, at the time of the introduction of the charge led by the son of the founder), and produced its own weapons for hunting especially big game hunting.
