400 Purdey

400 Purdey 3"

The old English hunting černoprachý charge. Data about the time of the introduction varies greatly, probably was established sometime around 1880 and was later implemented and smokeless powder. Bullet 14.9 g has a muzzle velocity of 625 m/sec. The charge on the image produced probably the company Kynoch & Company, Birmingham, England. The company Purdey was just a trading company. To the right is the bullet 7,92 x 57, photo by author.

The company Purdey, right "James Purdey" and at the time of manufacture of the hub apparently "James Purdey and sons" was not a trading company. It was a family firm of excellent gunsmiths (work from the year 1814, at the time of the introduction of the charge led by the son of the founder), and produced its own weapons for hunting especially big game hunting. The company today also produces double-barreled rifle of large caliber (up to .600).
It is likely that a charge was made for her rifle (hence the name Purdey).
