The Infanterie-Regiment 419 was assembled for the 125th Infantry Division in October 1940 at the Military Training Area Münsingen from parts of the 5. Infantry Division - the headquarters was formed from the headquarters of Infantry Regiment 14, III Battalion of the same regiment was used to form I Battalion, II Battalion was formed from III Battalion of Infantry Regiment 75. Later the III Battalion was also newly formed.
On 15 October 1942 the regiment was transformed into Grenadier-Regiment 419.
