Charge middle-ballistic performance of the 6.5 Creedmoore was introduced in 2007, spol. Hornady. It was created in cooperation fmy. Hornady Manufacturing Company and Creedmoor Sports (namely them were Dave Emary and Dennis DeMille) and like a light charge for target shooting at long distances. Thanks it has even been proven as very suitable for hunting game where you has also gained considerable popularity. At the same time intrigued by the (western) armed forces, where there is already a long time unsuccessfully sought a suitable successor to bullets of 5.56 NATO (and also the 7.62 NATO).

There are projectiles weighing from 95 gr to 147 gr (6,16-at 9.53 g) of various types (FMJ, ELD, HPBT, SP, SST, etc.). The charge can be laborovat one - and-component bezdýmnými money and the working pressure can range 3880-4350 Bar (56300-63100 PSI). When using 600 mm (23,6 in) barrel reaches a muzzle velocity 740-850 m/s when using 140 gr FMJ bullet. Ballistic curve of the flight is very flat.
