According to published information, the 610th Air Base has experienced at least two air disasters in its nearly 20 years of operation, during which aircraft were destroyed and lives were lost.On April 23, 2013, a MiG-31 piloted by VU 50185 Commander Marat Yedigeyev malfunctioned during a night training session about 2 km southwest of the village of Prostornoye, threatening to crash the aircraft into a populated area. The pilot eventually managed to divert the aircraft away from the populated area, but was unable to eject and was killed when the aircraft hit the ground. A second MiG-31 accident occurred on16.04.2020 (Red 04), shortly after takeoff from the airport, one of the engines started to burn. Both pilots ejected successfully, the aircraft was destroyed after hitting the ground.

In early 2020, 610. Airbase consisted of two squadrons armed with MiG-31 aircraft (according to international organizations monitoring national armaments, there were to be as many as 32 MiG-31B and MiG-31BM aircraft at the base at this time, Russian sources specify that one squadron is made up of 8 MiG-31B/MiG-31BSM and 2 MiG-31DZ, which underwent overhauls and partial upgrades at Russian 514 in 2009-2014. Rzhev).

In November and December 2020, 8 new Su-30SM aircraft were delivered to the base.

As Kazakhstan does not yet plan to carry out further repairs and upgrades to the MiG-31 aircraft, it is likely that they will be retired from the base's arsenal and replaced with Su-30SM aircraft in the coming years.
