7,5 cm Selbstfahrlafette L/40,8 Versuchsstück 3 (Modell 1)

Since 1934, the company Büssing-NAG has been developing a 75 mm self-propelled gun on a half-track chassis. The basic idea of the program was to obtain a machine that was to withstand the firing of light weapons, should be highly mobile, fast and heavily armed. It was supposed to have a fully rotating tower.


The first version of the project was a machine called 7,5cm Selbstfahrlafette L/40, 8 Versuchsstück 1 (Modell 1) built on the platform BN l 6 (H). Only a prototype was created, on the basis of which a modernized version was created, resp. third prototype 7,5cm Selbstfahrlafette L/40,8 Versuchsstück 3 (Modell 1) ma platforme BN 10 (H). From of the first prototype, the third prototype differed significantly in shape and dimensions. The cannon remained original. The wooden model of the vehicle was completed on August 1, 1938 and, among other things, the number of wheels resembled a version of a tank destroyer built on the platform BN l 6 (H). The later prototype of the 7.5 cm Selbstfahrlafette L/40.8 Versuchsstück 3 (Model 1) differed from the model.


This whole project on platforms BN l 6 (H) and BN 10 (H) culminated in another project 7,5 cm Kanone L/41 auf Zugkraftwagen 5t (HKp 902).
