I don't know why the year is different than on the bottom of the cartridges and neither did my friend, from whose collection I took the picture.

The school cartridge has a cartridge case about two mm shorter than sharp, the length is caught by a more extended shot. The current production of S and B, a school ammunition and a fired steel cartridge case of some so-called military design for a better illustration led each other. At the back a ruler in cm and divided by 1 cm by 10 mm.

From one person, whose expertise I have no reason to doubt, I have an explanation for the different lengths of cartridges in sharp ammunition and school ammunition until Sa 24/26.
It 24/26 has a dynamic closure with a solid igniter, and when charging the inertia literally hits the chamber into the chamber by digging into the grooves and at the same time firing it. It does not matter with a sharp charge to be fired, but the school cartridge is designed for a number of repetitions dry, and therefore it is a bit shorter, so that it still survives repeated bumps and so that even a fixed fuse has a place to "hit" - so the cartridge has the possibility of a certain movement in the chamber in front of the rear, the length of the charge is supplemented by the extension of the projectile.
I do not guarantee the correctness, I write as I understood it.

During my time at the VVS PVLS in Vyškov, it was explained to me by a gunsmith that the school cartridge was shortened due to lower wear during repeated loading and unloading in the gun. Which I think confirms the correctness of the previous explanation.
