On 5 April 1943 the Tank Grenadier Training Regiment 85 was renamed Replacement and Training Regiment of Tank Grenadiers 85 by the garrison in Gliwice.
At the end of August 1944 it was detached from the "parent" Tank Division no. 178 and assigned to the newly formed Tatra Tank Division as staff for Replacement and Training Battalion of Tank Grenadiers 13 and Replacement Grenadier Battalion (Motorized) 30/51. As part of its battle group Kampfgruppe Junck, it was deployed during the suppression of the Slovak National Uprising. After the transformation of the division into Tatra Tank Training Division, he remained part of it, and in February 1945 he was incorporated into Tank Grenadier Regiment 102 under the new name 232nd Tank Division
