Originally a black powder German hunting cartridge later labored with smokeless powder. The cartridge would be introduced by Sauer & Sohn in the late 19th century, after WWII it was produced only sporadically. The 12,7 g bullet has a muzzle velocity of 572 m/sec. The cartridge pictured was manufactured by Deutsche Waffen und Munitionfabrik, Germany. On the right is the 7.92 x 57 cartridge.
